Forwarded it to a friend who has been looking for that generation wagon. He came back with "Does it have a woodgrain spoiler or am I hallucinating?" Between that and the trailer hitch it must be worth the price of admission. Will update if we launch a mission to get it.
Wagon with a wood grain spoiler. It's got the desirable turbine wheels, wonder if it's got the desirable under cammed 302.
I rented one of these when they were new (1979?) to help a friend move. On the empty haul back, I gave a lift to a mutual friend who had just moved to Canada from the UK. He was completely baffled by this gigantic whale of a car... so I took great pleasure in explaining about the recent downsizing of the LTD line. Got to make newcomers feel at home, right?
Oh man that's tempting. Hell, if it runs and drives it's worth $625. Um. Wonder if my wife would kill me? We HAVE been plotting to replace her '03 Vibe with another hatch/wagon type thing in the next year or two.
Hmmmm.... Swap in something bigger, a stick tranny, gut the interior, tighten it up and lower it; contendor?
Friend looked at the original one posted. Good car except for the bad rot in the passenger side front subframe mount area. There was a large portion of whatever ties the frame to the suspension points missing and the strut rod was hanging in air. That seemed to be the only real frame issue on the car surprisingly. Sadly he didn't want to tackle putting some more metal back in that area.
I spoke with the seller, he took this and two other cars in exchange for back rent, the woman was moving to Florida. Runs, drives, stops; put plates on it and drive home!
If you want to car camp or haul your Miata around, this looks like the ticket.
