The former owner of this has a very bad rep, I frequent the club that he braged about redlining and street racing to.

And what's wrong with redlining? Its a car, not a museum piece.
The factory installed a rev limit in the ECU to (hopefully) prevent overspeeding, so red line is within design parameters. That won't keep some mongrel from downshift overspeeding it though. (maybe that is why it needs 2nd gear syncro)(but its probably a stupid and lazy clutch foot)
Rumors are this ar sold for 1500. Id think even in its current shape, thats a good deal.
