Is that Alan Coulthard's old car? I remember seeing that car at Waterford about that time (I think his wife drove it) - I remember it may have been hit in the rear(?) at some point? Solid deal at 2K, tell him Kendall says hi!

I'm kinda pissed, Alan and Annie never called me to let me know they were selling it. Alan and I have been friends since we worked together in England before either of us moved here. I've worked on that car and even raced it when mine was broken. total steal. I'd get it running and rallycross the E36 M3 out of it.
Ah, yes, I remember that car well. I especially remember Alan and Annie washing it and applying stickers to it between sessions. Meanwhile, Adrian and I were feverishly wrenching on our Fiestas just to try and get them back on track.
It's in great condition still - I need to go through the soft lines and brakes. Having been in a large outdoor garage/barn thing: the worst part is the smell, it's clearly been a home to some critters during it's slumber!

I'm hoping to take it road racing! Maybe improved touring? Though it did open my eyes to the chassis, so I might pick up a different escort out here (they're dirt cheap in TN) to rallyX (I have a spare engine and trans too!)

I'm sure you know the history of the car. It was one of the first to get the Showroom Stock 'Trunk Kit' that many manufacturers released in response to the Neon ACR's The springs and shocks on that thing were better than what I was running on my IT Fiesta at the time. A decent LSD would really be all you need for a good regional car.
One thing. That car was built from an late prototype ZX2 (1PP in Ford speak from Memory) hence it can't be road registered. It's an ABS car and they/we could never, ever get a good freeking brake pedal feel from it. My very first action would be to go and get a non ABS Master cyl and dump all the ABS. Be carefull, regular Escorts didn't get rear discs, most had rear drums. I think (20 years ago now so not 100%) that a prior gen Escort Sport master Cyl should work. That or a Mazda 323 part. Also when you put bolt it up be very carefull about the master cycle plunger length with the booster, it was critical to good feel. I was the D&R Engineer on the brakes, but it's been a long long time.
I found an old phot of me in the car in a 'co-driver' race at Waterford in 1999. Crappy scan on a photocopier.
Cool! There's a good chance I saw it race at Waterford when I was a kid but I don't specifically remember it. I'm glad it's getting a new life.
My Dad (DeadSkunk) was Anne’s instructor at the Waterford school. I remember her and the car well.
