Seriously cool. Not mine, etc...
For sale is this custom built one of a kind raceway and HO train table. The set up was built about 15yrs ago. It has been in storage for about the last 10 yrs. The 4 lane set up and table took close to a year to build. The table measures 123"x 65" and was designed to fold up against the wall on custom made hinges via block and tackle. It sits on a purpose built cabinet about 2' high. The cabinet also provided a convenient place to store the tables accessories. With the legs extended, table lowered and released from the hinges the table can be rolled to any desired location. For that reason the table was built to withstand the stresses of being moved about, raised or lowered. Fabricated from one oversized sheet of 3/4" ply bolted to a frame work of welded 1½" x 1½" steel angle iron. The photos can't show the detail and work that went into this project. The old Aurora steering wheel controls are switched activated so one or two drivers can race against two driverless cars . Each lane has jacks for aftermarket controllers. There is a multitude of extra tracks and accessories the will go with the buyer. The bottom side is done in white peg board hiding the wiring and giving the table a clean look when folded. The sides are done in white Formica, top edges trimmed with red oak with a Tung oil finish It also has a fitted white canvas cover to keep the table clean. The table was folded up when Hurricane Sandy hit. The water rose about 14"up on the rear of the table. Other then some light rust on the rails there doesn't appear to be any additional damage to the raceway. The cars and trains were ruined in the flood, there are none left. The peg board comes off with little effort to access the wiring above. Each track is jumped to its adjacent track with copper wire and solder for a positive track to track connection. The metal tabs are gone or redundant. This layout is not just about racing cars around a track its more for the person who knows that the project will never be done in that there will always be something that can be improved upon. This layout is not only a hell of a lotta fun its a solid investment as these nostalgic 60s era aurora products become harder and harder to come by. This is not a kids toy.
