https://www.govdeals.com/index.cfm?fa=Main.Item&itemID=11527&acctID=4244 cool not a chance it stays at $1,280. Fiat 500 content. Still blows my mind when I see fairly nice cars at impound for unpaid tickets. It only takes two unpaid tickets not anymore than that.

one ticket on it for a week or so already; although I don't know if fairfax county is different than DC.

hasn't run much recently, although the owner ran it up to some shop in MD this summer to fix something.  But, I've seen the owner messing with it since then one time.  I have my suspicions about it picking up another ticket before he manages to take care of it.  But, assuming it gets towed & auctioned, whoever ends up with it is going to have to go through it... who knows what hackery has gone on with it.

In reply to sleepyhead :

Why aren't you being the good neighbor and unburdening him of that broken vehicle?

that's a hornets nest I don't want to go walking into... dude had his house go to auction with the bank, then foreclosed and all this was known... almost had that and a bronco get auctioned as part of the house.  he ended up getting at most two or three uhaul loads out of it before they put a padlock on it.  this on a house he's owned since '78?

burned through two weeks with my neighbor.  left a cat, and the porsche here while he high-tailed it up to PA.  it's shenanigans on shenanigans.

there's a reason it hasn't made the trip north yet (and I'm pretty sure the bronco got impounded).  and the stories I heard about him jury-rigging his Focus ZX5 rather than "fix it right" makes me wary of tackling the p-car.

plus, swmbo has a firm "no porsche rule" (also, no mustangs and no corvettes).  I get away with a fair amount, car-wise... so I'm careful about not touching the bright orange electrified fence wink

If it's going to get impounded and you are pretty sure the current owner will abandon it there, can you instead move it on to your property and claim it was abandoned by the owner with you rather than at the impound? I'll buy it from you as soon as you take ownership for $2018.

somehow I expect that plan will end up with the car in the impound anyway... and me with it sad
