Some of you guys here feel the love for these things. Needs some work, but could be a good buy.

"Had the VVT replaced twice in a year so when it started to go out again I decided to get rid of it."
Is that an issue typical of the MZR turboed engines?
Oh, my word, that's a good price. On the down side, it is an eight hour drive, and I'm on call all week.
The VVT issue sounds like a bad repair more than anything.
Outside of the CX-7 most of the MZRs died due to poor tuning and rod issues.
How is the rust up that way?

No. It's a known weak point of the pre '08 cars but once it's fixed it's good for quite a while. Unless they're putting 100k a year on it.
It is expensive if you don't DIY it though.
I kind of want that for a challenge car. Damond Motorsports built a 9 second car from one of these for crazy cheap
The only thing worse than seeing this now, would be if I bought that $8000 one last year.
Arg. Anyone wanna buy an RX-3? How 'bout an RX-7?
No, the only thing worse than seeing this now is selling my perfectly good mazda 6 wagon that would have been an ideal donor car for this..
