I'm just getting started for real in a resurrection of my '58 MGA roadster, and have a load of parts that I won't be using. The resurrection has progressed from a relatively stock re-build to a very modified car so I have stuff all over the place that won't be going back on the car.
Got hoods and trunk lids and fenders and doors and interior parts and seats and wire wheels and steel wheels and front suspension/brake assemblies and rear brakes and such and emblems and steering racks and steering shafts and pedal assemblies and rear body clips and front body clips and lights and lenses and a big handful of smaller bits and bobs.
Not everything is in perfect condition, the fenders have been repaired and the like, but most of the body panels and doors are repaired and primed and pretty much ready for a once-over and paint, the smaller pieces have all been blasted/cleaned/painted. The suspension, spindles, and brake parts are in good condition but are as removed from the car, not "restored." Also have the front and rear chassis sections, rear end housing and pumpkin. That sort of heavy stuff.
Anyone need anything or even want to grab up all of it at once, lemme know, OK? Don't want much, better to have someone use the stuff . . . I'm located in Kingston, MA 02364, one town North of Plymouth Rock.
Having a little trouble with receiving personal messages and such, might be best to post any replies here and I'll get back in touch with you. PMs seem to go out OK but don't come in to me. Have to look into this, something else to take care of later, after I put a new floor in the kitchen'
Thanks—
TC
I'm looking for a "skin". Basically a complete outer skin off a car. Let me see if an MGA would work size wise.
"I'm looking for a "skin""
That's essentially all that I'm using on my MGA project. Well, the skin and a section of the chassis in the rear.
Too bad that you live so far away, I'd let you borrow all of the body pieces to see of the MGA shell will work on/fit your project. Kinda too much coin to buy all of the body sections and panels just to check for fit and find that the MGA shell won't work out, you know?
If you have any measurements or dimensions that you're working with/against, shoot them off to me in an email and I'll measure up the MGA body sections to give you an idea of whether the MGA shell would be a viable option, OK?
You can get the wheelbase/height/track width/length/etc. off of the web, but door length and dimensions, deck height, slope degrees front and rear, that sort of thing would be just a crucial as the wheelbase. I can measure those for you if you like.
TONS of luck with your project ! It's taken me a couple of years just collecting the parts and getting ready to attempt my own Project MGA so I can really understand what you're up against. Towards the end, I decided against using a lot of the stock sheet-metal and picked up a set of four fiberglass fenders, fiberglass rocker panels, chromed plastic grill and headlamp rings, skinned aluminum trunk that I'm adding louvers to, and a fiberglass hood w/scoop molded in. I've since picked up some aluminum seats, aluminum steering wheel, light weight VW pedal assembly, aluminum master cylinder, etc.
This is why I have so many body panels for sale. The light weight replacements ought to shave the weight down to next to nothing.
Might begin a "build thread" once things get rolling . . . need to get further along on it first.
I did some measuring last night. I'm about a foot wider. After a whiskey I went down the Google images MGA fender flares hole. I woke up this morning in a daze but as the fog cleared I realized my shock towers would probably come up right where the fender and hood meet.
"I realized my shock towers would probably come up right where the fender and hood meet."
What chassis/platform were you considering using with the MGA shell?
Just kinda wondering . . .
It's top secret clearance only so I'll send you a PM. If you don't get it then hit me with one.
I could use a front valance. Maybe some wire wheels if they're 60 spoke.
I need a set of center caps for the steel mga disc wheels? Condition not overpoweringly important.
