It is time to sell my faithful 92 Volvo 965 to make way for the XC90 I have slowly been rehabbing. Has the 2.9 inline 6 cylinder engine. I bought the car in 2004 after the PO had let a broken heater valve kill the engine-the car was pristine and had recently had lifetime guaranteed tint and new ac. At that time I put in a low mile (81K) 95 engine that had been pulled for a V8 conversion and replaced all hoses, heater valve, RMS, etc., etc. Speedo/cluster was replaced in 2008, so body has approximately 220,000 miles and engine has around 180,000, but cluster shows about 129K miles (car is still driven daily).
In the last 10K miles, I have replaced brake pads, tires (Yokohoma), battery, rear shocks (sachs) + springs, spark plugs & cone bushings. Front struts/strut mounts and timing belt/tensioner/pulley 38K miles ago (95 motor has 75K interval I think). Driver’s seat has been rebuilt with new skins and seat heater (both seat heaters work). A/c is cold, heat is hot. Everything works except for clock and the fuel gauge is intermittant- we use the odometer at fillup to keep track. Transmission fluid has been changed regularly and it shifts perfectly. Has had a minor oil leak from somewhere back of the engine for many years. I think a pcv service would cure it, but after doing it on the XC90, I’m not up to it. Just leaves a drop or two on the driveway from time to time. Uses/loses about 1 qt. every 2500 to 3K miles.
This car has had a lot of TLC, all from me and continues to be a reliable daily driver- I will miss it but can’t keep it with the XC90 plus my other cars. Paint is very good and original, NO rust anywhere-slicktop w/ sunroof too. Good candidate for an engine swap or just drive it as is. Looking for somewhere in the neighborhood of $1800 or maybe less if I keep the Hydras and put on Adharas with decent tires-I might want the hydras on my 940T.
