So why would they not just call a scrap yard and get 100 for it?

For some reason I'm digging the graffiti. I'd buy it just to piss off the neighbors with yard art.

The graffiti is awesome. I bet it's someone's parts car that got abandoned; the nicely cut out quarters would tend to support that idea. Did anyone else notice each wheel is held on with one lug nut?

@spitfirebill: I bet there's a contract or legal requirement to put it out for bid. It's likely nobody will buy it so then it'll probably go to the scrap yard after the sale attempt.

Edit: Never mind! Someone has bid $10. God speed you crazy soul.

It's art, worth so much more if the Artist is dead.

I can't be the only Animal House fan here. Someone needs to do this:

I know the banter here is mainly joking, but would anyone seriously want to live next door to that on their neighbor’s lawn? I'd certainly be calling the city as it was being unloaded.

Having that car in the neighbor's front yard or my front yard wouldn't bother me at all. Living next door to the kinds of people who may think it's ok - meth/heroin dealers, gangsters, etc. most definitely would bother me. The possibility of it devaluing my property only really matters in relation to keeping good people in the neighborhood, or if I were planning on selling my house.

I'd also say I'm artistically-minded, so I definitely see the art in this vs. just a pile of junk...then again I see the art in rusty junk too. Likewise, I don't think I could handle living in a 1990's or later subdivision(at least not one I'm likely to have the income for). Give me someplace with unique architecture, something vintage/antique, and/or a variety of homes. When we moved earlier this year there was a house around the corner with a rusty hulk of a Model-T under a bush next to the car-port, but it disappeared before I ever saw anyone around. The house across the street(or the one behind it) has a rooster that I've heard, but never seen. There's are home in this neighborhood ranging from $70k(or less) to over $1M, and I love the variety it brings.

So, yeah - I'm weird.

The front fenders and grille would make nice wall art.

It has to go to auction, regardless. Scrappers bid at these auctions, as well.

I personally wouldn't care if someone parked this in the driveway or yard. The majority of my neighbors park their daily drivers outside anyhow. At least this would be cool to look at. And yeah, I live in a 2000s subdivision.

You guys scare me.

I do have to agree with Gearheadotaku, I'm down for the front fender and left hand C pillar as wall art.

Now to fix another issue. I realize I have somehow existed for 47 years and never seen all of Animal House. Netflix will help me remedy that later tonight.

Yea, the "lawn ornament" thing is pretty common around here, doesn't really bother me. The only one I've noticed on my road is an E30 that appears to be semi-actively worked on. I'm waiting for the day the "For Sale" sign goes on it.
