The VIN plate is missing. That seems...odd.

Not odd, if you understand that in some states you can register a "74 with out a smog test.

So the vin tag, the dash upper pad that bolts in place (that also has the vin number, that is also missing) between the steering wheel and the instruments cluster, with the missing rear plates might be the trifecta to now get you 1976 2002 back on the road.

The really hard part is the stamped vin number that you can just pick up under where the vin tag was pop riveted in the engine compartment. But now that even these non "tii" 2002's are bring $20,000 plus, would you cut out this section of sheet metal and weld it into the recipient and roll the dice.

But, it would have to be a really nice "76. Because then you would end up dealing with the rotten floors. It seams that only in 1976 BMW used a foam insulation under the carpet that absorbed any and all moisture. Even in California. But if you can weld....

Just seems....odd.
