Is this a replacement for NASA's Thunder Roadster series or will it stand along side that? Other than the body work, what makes a TRX spec car different than an ordinary Thunder Roadster?

It's a new series. The traditional Thunder Roadster class still exists. The body is actually a completely stock Thunder Roadster as well. It changed from the old, open wheel to the full body quite a few years ago. The only real difference is that we're running 2008+ Hayabusa fuel injected engines with a 100% stock ECU making 170rwhp with a minimum weight (including driver) of 1,725lbs. The "standard" TR class allows Hayabusa engines, but max power is 140rwhp and 12.3lbs/hp. Due to the difficulty and expense of "de-tuning" a Hayabusa to get to 140rwhp, we decided to run with a stock ECU so you can buy a complete motor off eBay and be ready to join us. Since every one we've dyno'd on stock ECU makes 168-171, we're pretty dang equal without having to go through the expense of tuning.
