A few years back, our corporate bean counter (that would be me), suggested that Open Face Racing Helmets would soon be following the carburetor into the Race Parts Hall of Fame. I was partly wrong, the increasing popularity of Track Days and Solo Racing has sparked a sales resurgence of the Open Face Helmet.......as for the carburetor.......
Affordable, Snell SA2010 approved and an unobstructed vision field, the Zamp Open Face is available in Black and White for only 139.95 and the RaceQuip Open Face, in White, for 149.99.
Most Track Day events require a Snell SA2005 or newer certification, motorcycle or M-Rated Helmets are usually not permitted.
If an Open Face Helmet is not your thing, but you are on a serious race budget, the Zamp FSA-2 Full Face Helmet is Snell SA2010 approved and only 169.95. This is a really decent helmet and very comparable in construction and quality to other entry level brands.
To answer a common question: all of the above Helmets can be used with a HANS Device, as long as a properly installed 5, 6, or 7 point racing harness system is utilized. None of the current SFI 38.1 approved Head and Neck Restraints will work properly with a standard DOT seat belt system.

The same place Canoes come from.
@Trans_Maro: They are a GRM sponsor and this is their sanctioned place to post ads like this.

no .... these are legit ... all they do is post their ads ... don't seem to participate in the yapping that goes on here ... just provide equipment at decent prices

31 posts so far ... pretty easy to check before calling a poster out ...
Guys, know the facts before you get all pissy.
There was a spam thread after the original, which has since been deleted.
Wow, somebody other than me must have gotten that one. Good job.
Not really. They left the canoe call too.
Thanks for the vote of confidence guys, there was a second post sending you somewhere else.
I think this is a good example of why the "canoe" posts are more harmful than good. Just click the report button and move on.

Um....actually, no, that's wrong. Speaking as a moderator, but not a GRM staff member, I can tell you that the the '!' buttons don't do ANYTHING for me; i.e. I don't get any notification if one is pressed. (I don't know if this is different for staff members, but I doubt it.)
To the best of my knowledge, the only thing that '!' does is to collapse the post, and that only happens if several people hit '!'.
For the time being, I don't mind if people keep using CANOE. It helps me find stuff to kill.
Back on topic-
My first auto-x/track day helmet was an open faced. When it was time to update to SA2010 I went for the full face. I do have some regrets though-a little bit warmer when staging and I lost all visual of my seat belts
I just need to remember to buckle up my harness BEFORE I put my helmet on. Other than that, I feel a bit safer with the full coverage. Plus I can use my own non-stinky helmet that I could actually see through the visor when I go karting
The Zamp is pretty good bang-for-the-buck too.
