I don't pay a ton of attention to the rubber the (insert derogative term for non-car people) use, but usually in the spring they have manufacturer-wide rebates. I'm waiting on Hankook's right now.
Check tirebuyer.com ... they handily beat tirerack's pricing for my last two purchases, if they service yourvarea.
there is currently a $50 or $70 rebate (on sets of 4) on certain General tires, running from 5/15 to 6/15 iirc. I just picked up a set of Altimax RT43 V-rated in 225/50-17 for my AWD E60, $478 before rebate, delivered. this tire is very highly rated in Tire Rack's testing, and so far I'm very happy.
