Hey, I found a 1968 BMW 1600 on CL and wanted to know if this car is even worth looking at, and if it is how expensive would parts be to restore it to drivable first then to factory?

Thanks

I can tell you with a high degree of certainty that the numbers are far more than it's worth.

I agree that this is not a sound investment or something that could be easily flipped for a profit, however if it were all restored ig would be worth well more than $4.5k.

If there is a decent 1600 for $4.5k out there that has had $20k spent on it, please post it because I would be interested.

Looks like a great parts car for a square tail light 2002 that someone wants to backdate. Worth $500 if you have a later 2002 or plan to get one. If you're just looking for a cool project car with no specific makes or models in mind I'd pass.

In reply to Datsun1500:

You may be right. I wasn't trying to spend my $20k on one. I just said I'd like to buy one that someone put $20k into for $4.5k.

As I recall, Datsun1500 does this for a living, so I trust his numbers.

Ok, That's kinda what I was thinking. I just thought it was a cool car that I've never seen on the road before. But, it is is horrible condition and I don't have any money. So ya thanks and have a good day.
