I think it's cool to get the steelies a shot but this kind of makes the car look like something a fire inspector would have driven.

The better solution would have been, and I think everyone would have agreed with me, is a nice set of Convo-Pro's.

p.s. I know I just suggested spending at least a grand on a set of used Convo's assuming they can be found in good condition even that cheap.  I'm just the ideas guy.

Centerline autodrag is also an acceptable answer....

So is a dozen other wheel sets. But, these i had from when i restored it to "sleeper". The mags are going back.....

The Auto Drag isn't bad but there are so many imitators and they don't look nearly as special to me as Convo Pro's.  I've always liked the Convo for some reason.  You're right, though, that a lot of different wheels would look great on this car.

So, next failure is the rear valley seal on the intake sprung a massive leak onto the headers. Its a fire hazard.

So its parked for now until I get the mental wherewithal and time to pull it apart. I'll swap to the performer rpm air gap i picked up at that time, and change the oil and a fresh set of spark plugs.

Sucks, as i was really enjoying having fun car Friday with it....

Bump

In reply to Norma66-Brent :

Got it back together and halfass tuned while i was on vacation last week. So, runs again. Still needs an oil change and plugs. No pictures, cause I'm a slacker.

I changed the oil, replaced the sub, charged the AC, and drove it quite a bit.

Was running a little warmer than i thought it ised to, but not hot.

Came home from the folks place a few weeks ago, noted gauge at 240. Never smelled coolant or anything, no noises,  no warning signs.

Popped a hole in the freeze plug behind the power steering pump. Which means everything has to come off the front of the engine.

Will replace both front freeze plugs, as well as water pump and lower radiator hose as they are all close to 20 years old now....

Hope i didn't hurt it.

Definitely. Really didn't need to add it to my to do list. Hopefully its not hurt.

Going to be thinking through the whole cooling system and accessory drive setups while i have it apart and see if theres any ways to improve them while im in there. Other than a quality water pump, add a drain to the system, and possibly some ducting i think its as good as it can be for cooling. But....

Especially with the Neon thing, and the recent truck stuff, seems like you can't catch a break.   Even tho your builds are epic and the outcome is impressive, I really enjoy hearing about ice cream runs the most

Yeah, the past few months have been rough with cars, family and work. Definitely been a time to make gratitude lists to remind myself of what's good, as i tend to focus on all the bad.

Im looking forward to more ice cream runs.

Ive started tear down of this one, though it won't become the primary repair project until the miata electrical repair is done and both the dd mazdas get their brake jobs. THEN this one is next.

After that is neon. I think I have an engine.....

Hang in there.  We've been having a harder time this year with life throwing a few curve balls.  I'm pushing to get the TR6 project to a near finished state so that I can move on to other things.  It's not easy with stuff popping up all the time, but it will get done.

Both fingers crossed that the Duster is alright.

I understand that feeling hard right now.

It seems like the hits keep coming.  Curious, what kind of fan shroud do you have on the Duster?  IIRC, a proper shroud aids big time on cooling.  How about an electric water pump/fans set up?  I know, easy for me to say....   TLDR, maybe you are already running some form of the set up.  Anyway, good luck, and keep the faith.

Nah, no issues with faith here!

Im running dual electric fans with a shroud, hd water pump, crossflow three core radiator.

Im dure i can improve it somewhere though!

You'll get there.  Good luck, probably something simple like a thermostat or bleeding air out.

The waterpump was leaking from the weep hole, and theres quite a bit of funk in the coolant.

Going to replace water pump, front freeze plugs, flush the coolant really good, and see what happens.

And yes, this job required the normal blood sacrifice to the gods of mopar....
