I don't know how I just saw this thread. I too saved a ratty 240, got it running, had some fun, moved to Alaska and have mine hibernating on the other side of the hemisphere in Atlanta. Lots of similarities there. Love what you've done with the thing. Good luck with it!
really no telling when we'll be coming back to the states.. although I'm debating steering my career more towards automotive stuff so that may accelerate things.
thats pretty crazy though crankwalk - sounds like a very similar situation! as you might understand, I've got quite a bit of free time in the mean time - so started a project for the Z while i'm here to keep me busy...
