Awesome project.
I test-drove a 260 once that was for sale for $700. It ran great but while driving you could see the road through where the rockers should be. I probably should have bought it anyway since it was so cheap.

damn. . . I would have just given you most of the stuff on that list 3 years ago before I hauled it off to be crushed. I tried to move that whole car but no one was interested in the majority of it. Have you been over to hybridz.org yet? probly the best collection of Z people on the net, good deals to be had as well.

Dang it!
I used to browse hybridz about 10 years ago or more but never joined. I should for sure.
These parts are out there but it's hard to do it all on a budget. Sure beats prices on the other car though.
Anybody have any experience with 1-4 psi universal cheapie fuel pumps? I put a Mr gasket on my IHI carbed truck and it was fine but I wanted to know what brands, if any, work better than others? Thanks
Factory fuel sending unit, seal and lock ring is coming in from Nissan this week.!
I bought a brand new fuel pump sending unit and I don't have an old one one to use and reference to put in. There are no markings indicating which side is up or down and I don't want to install it 180* off and have to redo it. I'll have to crawl underneath a friends 240 and see what it looks like.
Is there a "trap door" in the trunk area for getting to the top of the tank? I was thinking there was, could be wrong.
No but I have the tank out already. you can undo one of the straps and get slack that way to do it when the tank is still installed.
Number of brake boosters I have installed on this car: 0 Sets of wheels acquired: 4
LOL
15x7 0 offset Volk meshies, not Riken or Enkeis. They match the butterscotch 70's interior oh so well and these will be THE street wheels I run.
Also brake parts and radiator on order. Soon.....Very soon
Awesome! I'm a sucker for some mesh wheels, and the color is fantastic! I have some black meshies that will be going on my 280 some day...I think I'll wait until I can lower it a little. Keep up the good work, hope you can find the parts you need...you should check Rock Auto!

Yeah i'm going to drive it around like this (with the front bumper back on) for a little bit before the plastidip.
Paging some bodywork people here:
I'd like to go over some of the surface rust spots and put some flat black over it until I do the whole car. What grit sandpaper would you use to smooth it down? 400?
Thanks folks
If chasing rust off the panel, wire wheel, rust remover or panel prep chemistry to really get it clean, then prime and paint. Preferably with an epoxy paint.
400 grit will give you a decent enough surface. 600 if you really care.
Whatever you do, do not leave it in primer unless it is an epoxy primer.

Thanks for the tips, yeah I know all about the moisture absorbtion issues of leaving primer for a while. Its so common to see fully primered cars running around for years with no intent of getting a real paint job.

No it has some blue springs in it (tokico?) But you couldn't tell it was lower until I put these 15 s on it with air in the tires.
In reply to crankwalk:
Oh, ok. Yeah, not sure what the blue springs are, maybe Tokico (I thought their's were red, though). It looks good though...not "jdm-tyte-racer-boy" low, but just a subtle drop to stiffen things up and get rid of some wheel gap. Keep up the good work!

Its been on jackstands for weeks now and when I rolled it out to get these pictures it was still settling. It's probably 1/2 inch lower now that its been on all fours. Hopefully this week I can get the tank in and fuel pump wired up so it can run longer than just spraying starting fluid in it.
In reply to crankwalk:
Awesome! That first drive is gonna be fun! I can't wait to go on the first drive in my 280! Good times!
Got the brakes in, just need to be bled.
Still need a radiator and get the fuel pump and tank back in.
awesome. you know how long I have been searching for a set of wheels like that?? lol
I'm not a big fan of the plastidip look but I still like this project. get it runnin so you can enjoy all that inline 6 torque

I'm soooo ready to get this thing on the road. It's been too long since I've had a spare old car to tool around in.
As far as the plastidip...I plan on having that as a temporary fix. I want to sand and spot paint the surface and it will just be ugly then. So that gives it uniformity until the real body work and paint happen later down the road.
