Coated the window channels in POR. I did find a couple holes after vac and scrubbing a bit. Nothing major and I think I will just leave them...
Ground the welds off the fenders, duraglasses the pinholes, and got them all sanded to 80 grit. Front valence as well.
Spent the rest of my time in the garage with the big 8" DA. Stripping around the windows on the drivers side.... Where I don't fit between the boat and truck. Im sore today.

Everything is DA'ed to 80!! Whew, my back and shoulders hurt. OK I lied, I have to pull the door handles and do those spots and the door edges on the driver side since I can't open those doors at the moment. And hand sanding all the door frames at the gaps...
Its on wheels again! Threw it on the dollies, uhhh they are useless, I cant move it :D
On the dollies, at full air up, its LOW :) Getting exhuast under the frame rail is going to be a challenge.
I made a mistake..... I took the wire wheel to the windshield frame the clean the old gunk out. Well it melted and flung all over my freshly sanded front end.... And its stuck on. Grrr. MEK and steel wool takes most of it off, but I am going to have to resand the hood and cowl and roof at the front :(
Im getting some flash rust also, gutters and scattered around in some other areas. I'll throw some Ospho on them Friday hopefully.

Weather is trying not to cooperate Monday!! Grrr, its been 85 and sunny for the last couple weeks.... Overnight rain is going to make humidity tough, and its not warming up till late afternoon now.
But I got about 15 mins in the garage after packing up for the weekend.
Got fittings and a whip made up for my new desiccant dryer. Have a 1/2" air line I will run out to the gun. (its all 3/8 to the filters tho)
And got a gallon of this stuff! Probably way more than I need, but 3 quarts was almost the same price.
And cut an access hole in the cowl, since I thought it was stupid not to have one. Its covered by a filler panel there.

Good luck with the primer today!
In reply to Dusterbd13-michael :
Thanks! Waiting for the sun to come out.... Going to roll it out of the garage, go have lunch with the wife and come Back to spray!
Exciting! Looking great and I'll live vicariously through your ability to tackle bodywork and paint.

You shooting with what size tip?
While I am sure you are aware....Highly advocate for some test passes to get spray pattern set before you hit the truck.
when you paint the roof or hood, don’t start in the middle. Start at the edge on one side and when you get to the middle go round and pick up on the wet edge.
Its primer, relax and enjoy, can’t really mess it up.

Roof is gonna suck, it's huge.... But yeah I have read up on the push/pull method. Can I do half the roof (the front half both sides, then the back half both sides) without getting a funky joint?
It's a 1.4 tip, was not planning to thin and do two coats. But I can thin up to 10% acetone as needed to spray out. Have cardboard for testing!
Off to lunch, ready for final wipe when I get home!
Well?????
Inquiring minds want to know!

Yeah...waited up late in hope of some pics. Love me some pigment porn!

Haha my back is killing me but it's gray! And now that is gray...... It's lumpy! Give me a sec to upload pics.
All Gray!! Mixed up too much paint... Roof was a bitch, Couldn't reach the whole thing, and the middle is a stretch.
So I think I went a bit dry, its a little rough, and where I was down low trying to get the rockers it seems smooth and shinier. You can see the reflection a bit here.
Its lumpy...
Little run action
Desiccant seemed to work, went from blue top pink?
Since I was painting I hit the door handles with some gloss black, and clear. Clear ran on me, but its not terrible.
Next up get it running! Picked up this goodie over the weeekend.
Walk the car with a sharpie and make a circle around every ding, dent, crater, and flaw. Repeat after every subsequent ciat of priner and bodywork. Eventually you'll either get them all or call it good enough.
But, hell of a start!
painting drone for roof access?

Myabe not a sharpie since that stuff seems to bleed through everything you put on top. As I learned the hard way.
Guide coat is the answer to this game. Buy a case of cheap flat black spraypaint and have at it with the long-boards if the goal is a good paintjob..

Planning on getting it running and driving next. Then ill dive into body work.
In reply to AngryCorvair :
That would be excellent. I was able tyo reach the center if I held onto the drip rail. Luckly that area is getting its trim back.
In reply to NOHOME :
Good to know on the sharpie! I ahve lots of random spray paint on my shelf in the garge.... Sounds like its time to use some up!
On the running and driving front. The Hamilton Injection is nice! Custom harness on a GM TBI unit.
Learn me kick down lever? This one has a bolt that is suspiciously not factory looking so it starts moving immediately with the throttle? There is a lot of throw in the system however.

Chrysler 727 kickdown = Throttle all the way open, kickdown should be as far back as it will go.
It's just a line pressure control, you can play with it a bit to adjust how firm you like the shift. It's not like a 7004r where mis-adjustment will f-the transmission.
The only thing that could damage the trans is not hooking it up at all because it will cause slipping from low pressure.
In reply to ShawnG :
It move with the throttle. The linkage doesn't appear to have any ratio adjustment I dont think. 50% throttle, 50% trans linkage movement. Should that slot just be open? No bolt?
Slot is circled, ~2" long, Bolt is at arrow, limits slot movement to nothing.

Remember, guide coat is just a light mist, not a proper paint coat. Stick to one color preferably flat black.
That is one whole lotta car to block sand. You have the big sanding block? ( See hood)
