That would be cool to find out who originally bought it, from my research they only sold around 70 units for these engines. And I am a carb guy all the way, no efi for me. And I plan on trailering to most events as you never no when something might break and the closest track to me is about 1.5hrs away and I do not like being stranded.

It is a 1900, coupes are manta or 1900 sport coupe and the ascona is the sedan

Actually, it is a Manta. Badge on the trunk confirms that. What is called the 1900 Sport Coupe here in the States was called Ascona in the motherland. 1900 is the engine designation/size. My 70 GT has 1900 badges on it also. The US version of the 1900 came in Coupe (2-door), Sedan (4-door) and Wagon version. All with the same sheet metal front clip. Manta front clip is different than the 1900 Ascona. Manta is the version to have though as they are easier to modify/upgrade. Have more room for bigger things under the hood and suspension is a bit better, especially the front. Just a bit more roomier than the 1900 Ascona and lots more room than the GT which has a transverse leaf spring front suspension. The 1900 drivetrain is essentially the same in all models though. The GT got an aluminum valve cover and oil pan while the other models got stamped steel. Have a couple friends with Manta's

But call it whatever you want, your car. Good work though. Looking forward to seeing progress. Might think about changing the diff/rear axle some time in the future as the original Opel is open, not lsd.

My GT with my friends Manta race car.

I had a 71 ascona, I know mine is called a manta. But they are both a 1900 model/platform. my vin tag confirms it is a 1900 model. The sedan is ascona and sport coupe is manta, as far as my research shows. Renaming for US gives confusion but in reality it really does not matter to me what they are called sport coupe sounds cooler, though I always tell people I have a manta.

I have a bit more done. Started re running wiring in engine bay, headers finished and wrapped, passenger seat bracket is welded in and I am working on finally finishing my front disc brake swap.

I was under the impression that in the very first couple of years that Manta A's were imported in to the US that they were sold as Sports Coupes, then reverted to using the Manta name (as here in Europe). If your's is a 1975 I'm pretty sure it would have been called a Manta in the US.

Car is running and has been driven. Still needs ironed out but still working on it whenever I get the chance. I recently purchased my second dellorto drla, in need of two more, hoping to swap the drla’s on this winter.

I drove it a few times and was feeling good so I went for an extended shakedown and blew my rear diff in the process. I found replacement parts already but I am going to have to do a rear end swap.

Why are you using that thing on the top of the carb?  I would call it an air cleaner, but it wouldn’t be true.

Also, please tell me you aren’t still running rubber fuel hose from the fuel line in the fender to the carb.  Rubber fuel hose + wrapped headers = spectacular torch.

Engine dropped a valve on my way home from stancewars about a month ago. Found a reasonably priced replacement but it came wrapped in a car.

Engine's actually wrapped in a pretty cool car, and you've earned 7 bonus internet points for using a full size B-body wagon as a tow vehicle.  Love It! yes

Thanks, the wagon is a diesel( diesel is not in currently) and I bought it to haul/tow. I could not get the diesel to run right so I put a gas 350 i had laying around in it until I fix the diesel. the engine that is in it now came out of a 66 f85 I had, turbo is not on but planning on finding a spot for it soon.

The new engine is almost ready to go in. I ordered some fiberglass from Lenk tuning in germany. And have been doing some cutting, grinding, welding and painting.

I decided to go away from an electric fan in favor of a mechanic clutch fan, Which involved moving the radiator forward yet again. This time it ended up out of the car, I will attempt to make a fiberglass "inspection" cover and am hoping the air dam will cover it completely.

YES!  More B.O.P stuff.  Rad!

I love your fleet.  You're the second person today to give me motivation to work on my 350 SBB. lol  Any plans to put the turbo on the 350 diesel when it's road worthy again?  I've seen a couple of them out there, but I've also heard that those are tricky engines.

The plan is to swap the diesel in place of the gas engine when it is ready, turbo and whatever else is in there( there is a 100 shot kind of hiding in there now). But unless I can figure out an uprated fuel system it is almost pointless trying to make more power with the diesel.

I would love to be able to find an Opel Manta...but all I ever see are the GTs...which I don't like. Glad you got rid of that ridiculous "velocity stack" air cleaner for it though...I bet that thing really killed power...those things have no real surface area to filter compared to a conventional carb air cleaner....and the filter being in the middle of the stack defeated the whole purpose of even having a stack to start with. Nice car.

Slightly off-topic, but here is a very interesting comparison video about different air cleaners, including that one on the op's car.  And a salad bowl.
