8,245 miles later we're back home!
The Cadillac did great- it burned a little oil and a lot of gas, but other than some tire wear and a new crack in the windshield it's in pretty much the same shape as when we left. Biggest scare was pushing some trans fluid out when we tried to hold 80mph over Donner Pass, after a cooldown and top up it was fine.
I'll do a trip write up next week.
Congrats and looking forward to the trip report.
Glad all went well! I was beginning to wonder, as in "I hope Chris & Sara are OK".
Trip report started, I'll work on it today as long as I can get away with it.
Some trip numbers:
Total distance: 8245 miles
Fuel burned: ~611 gallons
Oil burned: ~3.2 gallons
National Parks and Monuments: 15
State Parks: 3
Nights Camping: 9
Avg. Lodging Cost: $24/night
Avg. Speed across 15 days driving (exclude STL break day): 23 mph including time spent sleeping
Max Elevation: 9658 ft
Max Grade: 18%
Warning zones traversed: Tsunami, Fire, Tornado, Avalanche
And, almost exactly 11,000 miles after entering the shop for the first time, the Cadillac exits for the last time:
The new owner has a bunch of full sized GM stuff, seems very enthusiastic about the car, and says he'll take good care of it. I believe him.
Enjoy your retirement Cadillac, you earned it.
eBay sale or fellow GRMer?
In reply to Indy "Nub" Guy :
Ebay, although the guy would fit right in around here.
In reply to BROtorGuy :
More posts means more dork.
In reply to BROtorGuy :
It might need to be updated, looks like that happens at 7500 now if you look at the leaderboard page.
In reply to BROtorGuy :
Because the nice little chart lives on wikipedia, not the leaderboard.

Are you dropping it in your Audi?

I like saying bro. That's how I talk. It's all good. This just showed up. Dropping it in this weekend. V-14 Bro
You steal pics from road and track bro?

In reply to BROtorGuy :
Yup, states that in the caption of the picture you swiped. If I wanted to see non photoshopped extra cylinders I'd catch up with the excellent Ferrari build on here
what the hell is going on in here, bro?
BROtorGuy said: Wow bro, my condolences you're #notfast...
BROtorGuy said: What do you guys think?
1. Thanks for the tots and pears bro - I track a stock 92 miata with 300+ miles, I know I'm not fast.
2. Your photoshop skills are bad?
its really weird to have an issue with one of the most liked people on the forum here, with the best build threads on the forum here (cough BRZ rally car cough)
can we ban this guy now please?
In reply to BROtorGuy :
If you think the BRZ was sloppy or sketchy, you didn't read the thread.
DIY? Yes.
Iterative and experimental yes.
Definitely not sloppy, have you seen his notes on each change he makes so he can note how it performed afterwards?
Sketchy? No, brought in a professional for the cage, and has overbuilt everything needed after knowing what is important from previous experience with multiple other stage rally cars.
In reply to AWSX1686 (Forum Supporter) :
you along with everyone else are wasting your time engaging with this guy.
In reply to lnlogauge :
I suspect it's just one of the rally guys berkeleying with him.
No, rally people are, without exception, funnier than that. This was just the return of one of GRMs few recurring trolls I think, although I'm not sure what I did to get him going.
Thanks for playing defense, you guys are the best.
Edit: I was totally wrong about who it was but everything else I said about GRM and rally people still stands.
