VERY nice car ! ! !

How did you find out that British Leyland built the car? I have a 1985 Mini and have been trying to find out who built it for a while now. Is there a data base that you looked at or were you told that it was a Leyland Mini when you bought? Or what?

Any Mini built between 1968 and 1985 (other than the Innocenti ones) would have been built by BL: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Leyland

1986 and onwards would make it a Rover Mini

Its a little fuzzy in there,  if you're looking for cold hard lines to draw it doesn't happen.  My 89 is listed as an Austin and my 91 is a Rover.  I'd just go with what ever the title says at this point,  and enjoy the mini. (aimed at notsafeforwork)

No title, just trying to find out who made the car and when. No correct VIN plate either, original is missing. Currently tagged with a Mark 1 VIN plate although it's looks to be a 1985 (?)

Keep in mind both BL and it's successor Rover owned the Austin brand.

An ankle injury and then nice weather that pulled me out into the yard has delayed the interior work until now...

rain outside, f1 race on the garage tv and progress gets made...

the old...

the old adhesive and foam being cleaned up.

one side complete!

The interior work is done. Other than some old adhesive stains on the headliner, the interior looks pretty damn good.

now to make it a little quicker...

this lumpy mess of cheap carpet over the spare tire and battery has always annoyed me. I saw a few photos of smooth boot floors, so I decided to make one for my self after having to replace the battery.

after making a cardboard template, I went to this thin plywood. I have started to carpet it, but ran out of adhesive halfway through... what project doesn't involve an unexpected trip to the hardware store midway through?

I missed the finished interior shots.  That came out nice.

My wife was looking for birthday gift ideas and asked what I wanted, but didn't really need, for the car...

Love the interior! Who made the shift knob? Is the blue in it wood?

Mini got some new yokos, nice when all five wheels and tires fit in the Camry

also swapped in an accuspark box in place of the points and installed a new coil and plug wires

My neighbors friend had a disassembled 1275 that he wanted to get rid of... how could I not buy it. More displacement (from 998) is always good.

but now what? My neighbor is a retired mechanic, but without mini experience. Do we hack through it together or should I find a shop in VA/NC to do it?

should I go stock? Mild tune? Throw a blower on it?

and a nice shot taken by a photographer at cars and coffee

I can strongly recommend the Minispares EVO001 camshaft. Get the compression ratio up to 12:1 for best results. The dynamic compression ratio will be right around 9:1 so totally streetable on premium pump gas.

My motor was a 1330 (0.060" over 1275) at 13:1 static and the EVO001 camshaft. It pulled like I couldn't believe

Thanks for the cam recommendation, Trent. Did you build your engine yourself or have a shop do it?

Not gonna lie, I've always been a sucker for supercharger whine...
