I've always had a thing for these and this one looks like a good start. I'll be watching this!
And welcome to the board.
Sweet! Can't wait to see more, I love these things!
I just saw one of those on the freeway today for the first time in years, it even had those same wheels on it.

Two things. I'm pretty sure I've seen that car in the depths of the internet before. A few things are cluing me in... like what appears to be a Saab 900 Turbo Spoiler, and the rims.
Second- "I was looking for something a little older for my daily driver" is possibly one of the best opening introduction paragraph sentences ever.
That thing is cool. Nice score!
That thing is rad as berkeley!!!!
If we can pry, how much did you pay to score that?

+1
Keep updated and welcome.
That is awesome. Those were hard to find when I was heavy into Volvo's 20 years ago, there can't be too many left now. And a late turbo red-block already installed - WOW. Nice score.

In reply to BeardedOne:
NICE.
I really like the look of the front. Looks like it could use some wider wheels?
Great find!
Nice! I love those cars.
What are the seats out of?

Looks like V70 seats to me.
It has been on the Internet before in another forum.
It is pretty rare and this may be the first 242 GT I've seen in person.
I do plan on getting wider rims. Going with Diamond Racing Wheels 16x8 zero offset. It should fill up the wheel well and give the car a more aggressive look.
Thanks to all for the warm welcome. Glad my car is being received so well.

We like old things, cheap things, boxes, and turbos.
You pretty much knocked this one out of the park. Add box flares, huge rubber, and disconnect the wastegate and we'll probably worship you.

I had a high-comp B23E in an older 244 body - problem was I realized that the tinworm got it bad. Almost broke in half when the guys hauled it away. I gave it to them for free.
Nice Car.
Nice car. I think I may know the prior owner. I've got some 242 pieces I can't seem to hardly give away if you are interested. I am over in Daytona.
Off the top of my head I've got the side glass front and rear side. A window regulator and probably some other random stuff.
Very nice. I've been more interested in Volvos lately. I recently acquired a silver '84 Volvo 244 that I'm going to make my daily driver but isn't as cool as yours with less turbo-ness and a couple extra doors.
those seats look like they belong there -
Just cuz it reminded me of this:
Just been enjoying it and driving it back and forth to work as my daily driver is not up to the task. My brother is trying to convince me to enter the GRM $2013 Challenge and I'm seriously thinking of it.
I love it that your daily driver isn't up to the daily driving task, but your project car is.
