First time I saw this car, lo the many moons ago, I said , "He'll never finish this car." I was wrong, color me impressed.

I've felt that way a few times myself.
So, I did something dumb...
Yeah, I'm totally ready for this...
Well, I'm a little closer...
To further call out my own stupidity - I paint the car next week. July 13-28 I'm out of town for work, basically taking out any work time in July after the second week. I then need to get to the dyno in the first of weekend of August. I lose the 16th to 18th because my band is playing some New York gigs, which leaves ONE local event on August 24th, one week before Nationals, for me to shake this sucker down.
Hey, at least it will make for a good story... hopefully.

Awesome!
If you don't set aggressive goals and deadlines, you can't achieve greatness. And this car is definitely GREATNESS!
CP runs Thursday-Friday. Book yourself some practice course time on Monday / Tuesday / Wednesday and get used to the car! If you haven't been before, note that you do schedule TNT time in advance via MSR and it does sell out.
So I've been a busy boy this week. Tired of seeing this car in gray primer, I decided to do something about it. So after weeks of sanding, prep, etc, we finally shot some color.
That's right. It's gray! More specifically, something near to Nardo Grey.
The color really shows well in the sun.
And since the paint has started to dry, I've been able to finally bolt on some bits, like the fuel filler...
... the bumper, taillights, and (fake) license plate...
... and the rear spoiler/deck lid
I'm really happy with how my first time painting a car ever turned out. Over the weekend we hope to assemble the rest of the car and get some "put together" photos for everyone.
Looks good. I would call it more of a Battleship gray. Could do a WW2 battleship razzle-dazzle pattern on it down the road.
Do yourself a favor and track down who is doing the announcing for your group and go tell him how to pronounce your name.
Got a little more work done. Here it is, mostly assembled.
Heat shielding is on the body and flare where the exhaust exits.
Front splitter needs a ton of work and will be a low priority before Lincoln.
Overall, I'm really happy with how things have turned out. I've never painted a car, and while not anxious to do it again, I think the results are pretty good.
Now just a million more little things to do before Nationals.
I need you to post pictures of the rear window louvers. It needs them to be the most bad ass camaro on the planet.
And the tinted headlight covers.
Dayum!!!! So fresh and so clean!
I built a splitter like that, it goes scrrrrrrrrrrrp everywhere I drive.
A friend of mine sent these pictures from probably 2000 or 2001.
Both of of these cars are still out there. Fun to see how long ago this was.
