Sounds great!  Does the "new" exhaust still have cats too, but just less of them, or smaller ones?

No cats on the new setup just the two 12" magnaflows and a crossover pipe connecting the two banks. It doesn't really smell like fuel at all surprisingly which I was a little worried about. The rest of the world got non catalyst models and the rest of the US had even less EGR than the California cars. There was so much added stuff on the engines that when the parts age they just start choking everything down. This just makes it run like it was originally designed.

Trimmed the heat shield 3/4 in to accommodate the tips which were wider than anticipated.

Sanded, high temp black and did the tips as well. I'm hoping the high temp paint holds up well now that the pipes are much cooler. Popped the exhaust "diaper" back on and it got its second oil change in my ownership while it was up. 2 year interval and right at 1200 miles.

The improvements you made really make the Ferrari look great. I was just on BH car club this morning to look at Mondials. They have a few but they out of my price range. You scored!

It's 41 years old so no.

Thanks. I'm probably done with performance stuff for a minute and I'll be doing more cosmetics and maintenance over the winter. Going through the electrics, drivers window motor, and a few other odds and ends. I don't want to take it too far apart since Georgia "winter" is actually the best driving weather for this car.

The last nice camera photos of this car was two years ago when it was stock in the Anchorage "skyline". Last week, Evan from @atl.cars captured me out in the Atlanta skyline at midnight. Some lower res ones:

Great shots! Such a cool car. And the amount of headroom you have in the car is amazing. Are the factory seats really that low?

I was having issues with hot starts and apparently Bosch starters of this era all had issues with the electrical load with long drives. Do a long drive and stop for the gas and 50/50 shot it starts back up. I'd have to wait 20 minutes for it to cool down then back to normal. There was a WR1 relay for this specific issue.

https://www.kartek.com/parts/wr1-relay-kit-with-relay-socket-pigtail-wires-and-30-amp-relay-for-fans-ignition-or-lights.html?srsltid=AfmBOooB9P6mdfpF-pEVsrtkxcfUc0uxOASWblTkuYfwnF-0EreTHH1d

I threw it on and it fixed the hot start issue. I kind of tucked it away and grounded it on the frame but put the relay and fuse in a spot where I should be able to reach it even being that low.

This makes driving the car a little more practical and I don't have to plan ahead so much.

It's close by the house and I know a route to get there without ripping the front bumper off. laugh

I really like the car and your story that you've told about having it. I have a strange question about the back seat is it comfortable? I was always surprised by my RX8 having a very comfortable back seat it looked like it wouldn't be.

Man this thing is so cool. What is the function of the hot start relay?

Thanks! The backseat is ok but best for kids under 7.

This kit eliminates completely the voltage drop through the terminations and connectors of the ignition switch, neutral safety switch, bulkhead connector, etc.  This can be a huge factor on an older vehicle or even a brand new wiring harness that uses cheap thin-wall brass terminals vs OEM grade tin-plated parts.  This kit is also perfect for vehicles with big headers where they are in close proximity to the starter.

There are few things more frustrating than your vehicle not wanting to start.  One of the most common causes of this is heat soaking the starter solenoid trigger lead.  Factory trigger leads can be as small as 12 AWG and some starter solenoids can draw up to 30A – a bad combination when big headers are nearby.

This kit includes everything to solve this problem once and for all!

This is the best description of it. Helps prevent hot starting issues.

That same thing works on 2nd gen rx7s where the load goes through the ignition switch.
