There was a local father/son duo that ran an 84 944 at the local PCA Autocross. It was a high mileage survivor with an LSD and lots, LOTS of body roll. They always had a smile on their faces after a run and everyone else knew they were having fun as well so there were smiles all around.

Me too. According to the CL ad, the engine was rebuilt a year ago, but I don't believe it. Runs good, engine just looks too dirty, and it leaks a little oil. No way it was just rebuilt. There was a serious language barrier during purchase, so I am thinking maybe the timing belts were changed a year ago. If so, this should run for quite awhile then. Will try to pull a cover off this weekend and look and see what the belts look like.

Got to love some 944. I thought hard about getting one before I got my rx7. Just love the way that they look and the fact that you can say I drive a Porsche! Looks like a fun build!

Got the new speedo gear installed today took about 30 minutes. Also switched the tach to the middle of the console and speedo to the outside. Common swap I see on the forums. Your eye is drawn more to the tach since it is in the middle.

fyi, not sure if your older dash does it, but the post 1985's had this nasty habbit of breaking the trip gear if you reset while moving. so do not reset while moving...

Yep early ones too. Actually when I took it apart, the gear wasn't even broken. It had just slid over on the shaft. I replaced it anyway since I was already in there.

Looking forward to seeing where this one goes. I looked at a couple of 944's digitally before I bought my 911SC, wish I had gone to look at some of them in person, as they still interest me to this day.

I think you made the right choice.... These are fun cars, but not even in the same league. Still going good nothing new to report at this time.

Those white letter tires look outstanding on this thing. This thing screams awesome low budget racer.

Sadly, the white letters are only on the one side

I love white letter tires. I'm not even that old (ha!) but some cars look fantastic with them.
