Valley City.  Have to go to canton pull a part this week for some truck parts.  A friend told me there's a good cars and coffee there sometimes. I bought it already here because I was uncomfortable committing to a purchase halfway around the world. I would have been out a $500 deposit and 5 hours had the seller been lying when I showed up, but he was more than honest and i think had he bothered cleaning it up for the pics I or someone else would have paid more.

Day 5 of ownership.  Probably done 150 miles thus far and still have half a tank of gas.  I call that a W.

observations:

-holy E36 M3 it flies

-i missed the brrrrrrrrrRRRRRRRRRRR PSHHHHH sounds so bad

-the rb26dett is the noise I've always wanted.  It is so perfect. May as well put quiet mufflers on everything else because this car has absolutely ruined all other engine sounds for me

-need to download the software for the Link ECU and start learning.  The wideband is not staying in the green during steady cruising, it's running a tad rich which, yeah safer than lean especially with boost, but it's rich enough to stink too much

-it snaps necks and gets pointed at or commented on A LOT.

got 2 more keys made at the locksmith today so I have more than 1, had a parking light out that was just unplugged. Attempting to order LH kick panel from Amayama, but Japan has not contacted me for shipping quote yet. LH high beam is out so ordered a pair of hella bulbs.

this car is way nicer than advertised, in my opinion.  The seller was kinda like me while selling, honesty to a fault and downplay how good something actually is at the cost of more money.  If it had been clean and detailed for the pics instead of dirty inside and out I would have probably paid more.

the flared fenders and quarters are all metal, whoever did them was very very very good. Probably going to swap to ceramic pads very soon for brake dust reasons.

wheels were found to be cst zero 1 hyper, and are more expensive than any wheel I've ever bought. Unfortunately missing center caps.

state farm is charging me $12/mo for $25k agreed value coverage. I have a feeling after seeing how nice it is that I should up it to 30k coverage.

CD player works, good enough for me for now, as the head unit totally fits the build. Would like some bass, will probably use the amp from the flip ram and a single 10" new old SDAT sub and just ditch the spare to offset the weight. Wish it had an aux or usb but may be able get a japanese band modulator?

I agree to the liking the simplicity of being only rwd.

That front lip looks low.  Careful at the curbs and driveways!

I may have linked this video before... so what.  Linking again, should embed around seven and a half ish minutes in.

Jimmy is good people... he went from being in a bad spot in life to livestreaming playing driving sims out of the shed he was living in, and turned that into an amazing career, bought a bunch of cool cars, bought a house, has a gig racing in real life, and through it all he is just amazed that he is able to do any of the stuff he does at all.

Simply amazing.

Way back 15 years or so ago,  you could get the japanese stereo modulators fairly cheap on Fleabay.  If I remember, you want the 12/24 one to get all the stations.  I used it when I was given a JDM Subaru stereo with the minidisk in it.  It worked great, it was just wierd seeing 86.9 on the screen and getting in a normal station.

You linked that in my life build thread in 2019 or so.  I'm building quite a solid life.

everything he said and emoted is how this car makes me feel.  It's more than a car, more than the chase, more than the story.  It's that I got my E36 M3 together enough to pursue this dream and put my mind to it and berkeleying did it. I am a very lucky human, have a wonderful supportive wife who told me to pull the trigger, awesome kids, the best friend group anyone could ask for, and tbh with those things around me, you all included, I can do anything

I wrote this in another thread of a RHD car...

What gets more strange looks?  No one on the LHD side making it look like there is no driver?  Or, a Teddy Bear sitting on the LHD side?

You're living the dream, man! That thing is SWEET! Looking forward to seeing what the owning of one of these is like through a GRMer's point of view.

Glorious sounds! I'm loving enjoying this vicariously through the thread.

I'm in the same boat. My supportive wife pushed me to clear out old projects and half finished stuff and pull the trigger on that car that had I always wanted. It does feel good!

I love skylines, but for me I wanted a Z32 since I prefer to draw a little less attention and roll with a car I that used to tempt me on the street all the time. Still classic Nissan power and technology from a great era. If we were not separated by the endless boredom of the PA turnpike I would line up with you on a backroad to let you beat up on me for some awesome photos and fun.

Sweet ride!

In reply to tb :

Nissan made some excellent stuff back in the day, in a matter of 3 months I went from the 90 Q45 to the 90 Skyline and love both for completely different reasons but they're both well made vehicles that don't feel cheap.  It was tempting when I had shy of 10k to "settle" for a Z32, but I've been settling for years and distracting myself from this goal.  The R32 Skyline, FD, Z32, those are all import unicorns for the generation who got Gran Turismo as teens and the Skyline is the forbidden fruit of the group.  The once unattainable. Holy berkeley it's so good.

Aaron, you're close enough, bring him up for a ride

I played a lot of Gran Turismo on my PS1 while driving a ratty 280Zx turbo back in the day... I feel you!

My Z32 is only lightly modded to about 400whp so I don't worry about throwing the keys to a valet or my brother. A high strung Skyline is probably in my future, though, just a little too exotic for me right now.

I am really happy that you are living the dream right now, the feeling of completeness is wonderful when you have the car you always wanted. Plus the car found the right owner and will have a good home now and live on without abuse or neglect.

I gotta start my own thread sometime and not clutter up yours, but you hit me in the feels, bro, in a good way!

I still miss the reality when driving my dream car and it's been 6 years. I smile every time I drive it.

Very happy for you!

Ordered the carvx.jp report and it appears the 25,000Km reading on the odometer may be accurate.  Based on money spent and quality of parts used this was definitely someone's baby and it wouldn't surprise me if it has that few miles. There really are no door dings or otherwise to show it was driven a lot to stores nor are there rock chips or other indicators that it's led a longer life than the numbers would indicate.  It doesn't even have the dash bubble.

I think I really scored here and tbh marketed properly and detailed i bet i could make several grand, but berkeley that this and the 57 Chevy are the 2 dream cars of my youth and I own them both.  Very surreal stuff

Oh boy. My friend Kuma (GRM name ExcessKuma, now owns my former Q45) has dug up a ton.  It's getting better and better.  Found an article from 2018 saying it has, according to apple translate:

N1 pistons

metal head gasket

greddy exhaust

tomei cam sprockets(we knew this)

gtr brakes all around

gtr rear sway bar

stainless brake lines

also found pics of the car prior to makeover, it used to have a body kit and no spoiler.
