8 days away from skyline was rough. Got home about 4:45 today so we got it out and i went to grocery store then we took it to see fireworks. Almost got creamed on the way home, the person coming up behind me at the stop sign wasn't stopping and i had to quickly move forward to not get plowed.
missed my porch too, so i took a pic of the car from the porch
This is the awesomest photo. If there were a way to send it back in time, I'd e-mail it to you.
Turns out the momo was fakeo, and started breaking. No worries, it was from a grm member who thought it was legit but also i just paid shipping so no foul. only wheel I have available that is worthy of the car is a new old stock 90's era Izumi from Japan. So in other words period correct and perfect. It was going in the Wartburg but now I can buy the metalflake green wheel I want for it.
horn button acquired and functional
unberking the passenger side gauge situation
also just a hair under 26k on the odometer now means I've put 1k Km on it in just under 2 months
hit a show this morning, bailed early because it's Abby's birthday. Parked next to a supercharged Z. Also saw a flared jdm FD
That is three local right hand drive FDs that I am aware of, now.
Looking good, I really need to get up there to check it out sometime.

Weren't they cheaper than buying an equivalent domestic model for at least a while?

They still are. IIRC the low point was $10k for a rolling chassis. Now that won't even get you half of a Turbo II.
3 gauges and a hole is more than 2 gauges and 2 non functional tachs filling holes
Also i get the only r32 in the world without a dash bubble and they drilled it.
can anyone 3d print me a black filler? Hole is 60mm diameter
Maybe add an oil temp gauge there?
In reply to XLR99 (Forum Supporter) :
IMO I would put in some adapters to angle all the gauges and fit a water temp gauge at the end as that's a crucial point to measure.
so everyone can hear what it sounds like
You having this car makes me happy like docwyte having the 996 turbo. It's so cool seeing real car enthusiasts get something awesome and enjoy it! Congrats again!
A very generous GRM member stopped by yesterday and hooked me the berkeley up
Not too disimilar from the killer wheels on this Skyline. Coming up for auction soon!
1990 Skyline GT-R JGTCC competition car
semi patiently waiting for picture of the new wheels on the car

Quickly washed test fit. Think i'll be looking for 285 rear and 245 front. Won't put them on till next year, need to paint one white and get new decals(or paint all of them and do new decals). For the fronts i have 1 white, 1 bronze, and 1 silver
Very cool! Seeing it on those wheels is like Gran Turismo fantasies come to life :)
I couldn't help myself and ordered tires on PayPal credit hoping the Datsun is paid for and gone by the time I need to pay it back. Also ordered reproduction decals so I can paint one of the not white front wheels. I have to see if I have my detail gun still so I can mix up a cup of paint and spray it. And tbh since i'm painting one and have all new decals... we'll see how it goes. I really should just paint one because i have other stuff to worry about.
Step 1 dismounting old hoosiers
Had a moment of "E36 M3 if i have to paint 1 and it looks new i have to do all of them" so i wetsanded till i had no fingers left
have to get the rest of the stick on weight goo off the barrels and then wipe down for primer and paint. Planning to use etching primer because i hit some bare spots and i have 3/4 gallon of white single stage acrylic urethane. I am not ambitious enough to start prepping now at 7:40 but maybe tomorrow afternoon if the weather cooperates.
I'm really tired and when I first looked at that pic I thought you had polished it to a reflective surface. I was thinking, yeah, no E36 M3 you wet sanded your fingers off.
Glad you didn't do that.
Dude.
Also, if you have a striping removal wheel for a die grinder/drill, it makes very short work of wheel weight adhesive, whether it is goo or crystallized.
