A Gr5 Mustang just sold on Special Stage, advertised price was $5500.

You gotta start in Group 2. Which is why my friend who did a B6T swap into his RX-7 had to take the turbo off, leaving him with a naturally aspirated super low compression 1.6...
NASA Rallysport does not require new drivers to start in Group 2 or Production. Find a NASA rally near you and have at er!

For anybody who hasn't noticed, this thing is for sale.

I've been thinking about this car so much that it's probably unhealthy.
Have you tried adding some weight to the rear of it?
I think that might make it a bit easier to control, provided it doesn't increase your rear polar moment too much, and it would definitely help in the straight line traction department. You mentioned that you can easily lift the rear of the car until the suspension is at full droop. That's the same thing the rear control arms are doing when you try to accelerate. Instead of planting the rear tires with that 98% anti-squat it's just raising the rear of the car, that's the path of least resistance. I would assume that you're no better off now with the 5-link set at 98% than you would be with the stock 4-link and it's 36% (I think) anti-squat due to the lack of rear weight.
If you don't mind trying an experiment, how about relocating the battery to the right rear, plopping in a full-size spare (tied down, of course ) and re-installing the hatch. Things might improve a bit.
A QA-1 K-member, while definitely not the strongest or best suited to actual racing, will move the front wheels and inch or so forward (positive caster, YAY!) and give you the option of setting the engine back about an inch. With the wheels forward and the engine back it will put quite a bit more weight on the rear tires, further helping the rear suspension geometry do it's job.
A group 5 Mustang has been a dream of mine for a VERY long time.

In reply to The_Jed:
I think you're confused about why the car is for sale- the vehicle itself is not the problem. Rallycross is the problem. I feel like I'm wasting my time and money with this when I could just save up and go Stage Rallying.
That said, here's what I would do to make this a more competitive MR car, in order: new front tires, drill another hole in the rear upper control arm mounts for as close to zero antisquat as possible, relocate battery and radiator to the rear, big triple element rear wing, fancy front subframe. Honestly, none of that is needed, and someone with more restraint than myself could drive this very fast as-is, rather than drifting and cone-murdering your way around the course.
I certainly appreciate the input on setup. You know what the best way to prove your theories would be? Buy it.

Me being confused is a pretty safe bet lol!
I sent you an email. Shh, don't tell my wife!
UPDATE: this car belongs to tdrrally now. As to what he traded me for it... let's just say mazdeuce is a terrible influence.
the big ruff stang has a new home

does this mean we're going to continue to see it at rallycross events since you're in W.Va?
how far are you from charleston?
Our events are in Frostburg, MD. So about the same distance for you as it is for most of us in the DC area (~3 hour drive) and a lot closer than for our members from the Philly/Baltimore area. Basically straight up Rt.79 for you.
it could be a plan
with the ohio rallycross scene 3 hours to the west, i'm in the middle
i might reset it for autocross for now
i've not had a lowered car for a very long time
and it needs rear disc brakes now!
i am looking for fenders

So when do I crew for you?
a basic service and a set of tyres and the bike is ready
the rider is another story
at last an update
the long term plan is a rally mustang, and a rally car must be road legal, so that is the starting point

I'm shocked that this car doesn't have caster/camber plates. Shocked I tell you!
The strut towers have slotted holes, does that count?
i have a set of camber plates on the self.
work and cleaning out the studio (moms garage) to make room for the mustang have eaten up most of my time.
i did spend ten minutes replacing very old vacuum hoses and caps the other day, before i drove it to the studio.
i will say it rolls down the interstate like a dream
i should have it on the road in a week or so
at last i got to spend some time with the mustang project
i'm still have not gotten to get it in the air and give it a good wash
but i did manage to replace the funky quarter windows and start on the rear wheel arches

Very cool build iv always wanted to see a fox out in a field. Hope you get to stage rally NONACK. I also hope the fox is still getting used, looks like to much fun to leave sitting. It would be a really cool all in one car, DD, rallyX, autoX. I just wish I could punish cars like yall do in rallyX im to afraid I would brake it... I baby all my cars...
