Thanks! More on the Thule box later.
For my own memory and organization, this is the list of maintenance and repairs that this truck has seen in the past 2000 miles.
-Head gasket replacement including cleaning and surfacing heads, new head bolts, and replacing every gasket and seal along the way (Intake, valve covers, exhaust manifold and crossover pipe, cam seals, etc
-Timing belt replacement including water pump, tensioner, and all pulleys
-Replaced radiator
-Replaced Alternator, PS, and A/C belts
-Replaced spark plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor
-Replaced air and fuel filters
-Oil change x2
-Check all driveline fluids, found all to be clean and at appropriate levels
-Replaced harmonic balancer... + t-belt and alt belt again. Whoops.
-Clean and lubricate sliding rear window mechanism
-Wiper blades
Issues still present:
-Still seeing 10-11 MPG. Consulting the internet gave me about a 60/40 mix of "I get 15-16+" and "That's all it'll do". CEL is off but, when I jump the pins in the diagnostics box, flashes code 25 - system lean. That, combined with the amount of moisture that was in the exhaust, makes me suspect a bad O2 sensor.
-Rear shocks leaking, need replacement
-Brake warning light illuminated. Suspect this is related to the fairly seized e-brake.
-No sound from rear speakers
Four runners are tough. My girlfriends was on the wrong end on someone running a red light. T boned the guy at 40. Thing still ran with the front end 9 inches past the frame rail. Had 240k on it and would have done 300k no problem
Hopefully I don't do that kind of strength test to this one. 2nd gens are a little sparse with safety equipment...
Hope everyone was ok!
More pictures! Needed to disconnect for a while, so I headed into the Green Mountain National Forest for the night.

Needless to say I came back feeling quite restored. The truck never missed a beat, but I fount out my crappy sleeping bag is not up to the task of December in Vermont!
You're good at this picture stuff. Reminds me I need to go stand in the woods again. Thanks for posting them.
I always found I'm most comfortable with a sleeping bag rated about 20-30 degrees below the actual temperatures I'll see. A 20 degree bag will keep me alive at 20 degrees, but I'm sure as hell not sleeping much in that scenario. My favorite bag ever for winter camping was a -40 bag. Nothing like waking up in the snow and complaining to your tent mates that you're too hot.
Thanks!
I looked after I got home and my sleeping bag is rated to 40 degrees. Temps were in the 20s last night. I had to start the truck and run the heat for a while a couple times
Fixed the brake warning light. As it turns out, the e-brake works perfectly fine and it was simply low on fluid. The pedal feels good so I don't think there is a significant leak, but I'll keep an eye on it.
As usual, I am incapable of taking a direct route to anywhere. Took these on my way home from a company holiday party in Manchester, NH today.
Nice pics and nice build. I still have my old XSi, great little camera. You're going to make me pick up a 50mm lense, lol. I'm hoping to be doing these same kind of drives in my Grand Cherokee once get the front end rebuilt.
BTW, how are the Grabber ATs doing for general mixed use? That's probably what I'm putting on after the lift.

Thank you.
As much as I would like to upgrade to a full frame dSLR, the XSI has (and continues to) served me very well. I bought the body used in 2010 with 800 clicks. It's well above 15,000 now and has taught me a lot in that time! Get the nifty fifty. I think I paid $100 brand new for mine, if you're patient you can score a used one for half that. I bought it like a year ago and I think I can count on one hand the number of times I have used my other lenses since.
I like the AT2's overall. They're pretty quiet and un-intrusive on the pavement and seem to work pretty well on the dirt, though I have no real frame of reference there. In the snow I would give them an "okay". I have always had a dedicated snow tire, so I'll decide in the next couple days whether I want to run them or get snows.
Speaking of snow... we are getting our first real dose of it in the Northeast and I happened to have the day off. You know what that means.. more pictures. Sorry not sorry.

And finally, re-fueled with the ideal cold weather comfort food - a Green Mountain Coffee Maple Supreme and poutine.

Sold.
It's been a long time since I've been this bummed over a vehicle but something had to give.
It's going to a good home and I have to option to buy it back when I'm ready, but it will be missed.
Being an adult sucks.
