It has 179k miles. It runs, drives, and stops, has no rust and I got it for an even $1000.
It's one of the few project cars I've ever had that drove onto and off of a trailer or dolly by itself.
It was a daily driver in Southern Pines, NC up until May of this year when the gentleman I bought it from got a 2001 Miata and mostly stopped driving it. He turned in the plate, canceled the insurance and put it up for sale. I wasn't able to drive it too far, just around his neighborhood a bit.
The seller has some other cars for sale, too. He's cleaning up his yard a bit. He's got a late 60s early 70s Chevelle with a 454 he wants like $10k for, and some more mundane cars. You can see the Z28 in the driveway.
What is the plan? Fix it up a bit, drive it, do a few CAM autocross events next year, maybe Challenge car. We'll see.

That's a killer deal. They make fun autocrossers. Looks unmolested too. Cool score.
Of course, I'm a little biased.

I didn't scrutinize it too much at that price, but it appears to be 100% original, except for an updated Optispark the PO put into it. I've got $1000 in updates I can do on the car and keep it under budget.
Beautiful
my best friend had that exact car in the teal green, we did lots of dumb things in that car. His brother had a new WS6
I love your plum/ black cherry color. Exact color as my LS430. This color also came in the 95-96Impala SS
Running Z28 for 1k? Awesome! With 3.42s it's a 6 speed? If so trans alone is a $1000 core.

That's way not the same a dark cherry metallic on the impala.
nice score on the Camaro.
In reply to Patrick :
My eyes must be going at old age then. Apologize
Nice looking Camaro! Good job on buying it! Run the wheels off of it.
Nice find, it will be a fun car especially with only $1k into it.

Time to torque the head studs and then see if you can stretch em with nitrous
I am calling it the Fakata F-Body.
There are many rattles and squeaks.
I'm quite sure the brake lights were working when I bought the car, but apparently two of them were not working when I got the safety inspection done.
I'll mess with it tomorrow. The weather is supposed to be back up in the 60s.

If you no longer hear rattles & squeaks in an Fbody it’s because it’s broken down.
Weird - mine's definitely a harsh ride, but no rattles or squeaks.
It seems as if the brake switch is good and the center light works. This tells me that I somehow broke the turn signal switch towing on the dolly or seeing if it would do donuts in the parking lot when I got it back to Raleigh.
Either one.
FWIW, great subject line. Thanks.
Thanks, David. I hope to actually make it to the Challenge with this one.
I bought some tools I don't have in order to do some work on the steering column.
The best sign of choosing the right project is when you gotta buy tools you don't have to even start it.

So what you are saying is its a good rallyx car?
It's pretty lacking in ground clearance. I'd rather use a Mustang for rallycross, and I've considered that idea more than once, just for the LOLs.
Today I worked on the brake lights a bit and forgot to put the hazard button in when I should have, and now I have to do most of the whole job over again.
YAAAAAY.
275 hp “seems” weak by today’s standards but don’t be fooled (as so many often are) by the peak number. These will go like stink when running properly. They’re sub 14 in the quarter (if barely) and don’t top out until 151 if I remember the R&T test correctly. Hell, even Phil Hill was bragging on it.

I'm in it for the torque. This is the first muscle car I've ever owned.
