If yall ever need drivers.  I am available.  And close by.  IIRC i've seen this at summit point a few times testing.

I dont think the car has enough power to offset the 24.4" tire height of the 235/40R17? With the impending tune, LSD and some more weight removed it might? Bob knows well more than me on this engine and gearing nightmare in a motorsports situation.

Id be up for a 5 lug swap(hubs and rotors are cheap). There are significantly more wheel choices in the 5x114 bolt pattern. The tires are harder to come by though as 235/40 is too tall(24.4" tall), 215/40 is around the right size(23.8" tall), 205/40 is shorter but not wide enough(23.4" tall).

Ideal would be 23.5" tall and 225+mm wide(8"+ tread width). But i dont see anything in 16" or 17" that fits the bill.

The current Tiburon GT calipers and Sonata 11" rotors work perfectly without too much excess weight. The 2 piston XG300/XG350 calipers are stupid heavy(lbs more per corner than the current setup). Dont know if that would really be an upgrade at this point.

Yup, we test at Summit every once in a while. PM me if you can. We are always looking for drivers. We are headed to VIR in August and will need at least one more to ensure we arent completely drained at the 14hr mark like last year.

In reply to kevinatfms :

what you get with the XG and 5 lug swap is the 12" rotors, leverage and heat capacity increase. But yes, those calipers are heavy. The Tib loved them with Hawk Blues. Could easily overcome the 245's when getting on the brakes harder than necessary.

We may have a way to tune this thing. A Tiburon specific group has been making a flash software setup and they are willing to work with me to get the Elantra flashed with some updates to the ECU.

Hope to have it all downloaded tonight and get started. I did purchase a second ECU in case the first goes bum up.

Swapped the old stock manifold off this weekend due to a leak(s). Found multiple cracks in the manifold along with a leaking lower flange. Gasket was blown out.

I have the 4-2-1 header but it needs some tweaking to fit. Took measurements and will lop off the flange and add in a section of pipe with a V-band clamp on the end to keep the flange from hitting the oil pan along with making it easier to remove/install when needed.

New Magnaflow exhaust manifold w/ high flow converter for now until i get the header modified.

The Magnaflow piece fit perfectly, replaced 1 exhaust stud and all new nuts. New gaskets and its sealed up. But also found the flex pipe under the car is leaking also. So that is another thing to get replaced.

I did take some measurements of the primary tubes/outlet of the factory exhaust manifold, magnaflow replacement exhaust manifold and 4-2-1 header:

OE primary 1-11/16" x 3/4"

OE outlet 1-3/4"

Magnaflow primary 1-3/4" x 3/4"

Magnaflow outlet 2"

4-2-1 Header primary 2" x 15/16"

4-2-1 Header outlet 2-1/8"(which will go to 2-1/4" once V-band is welded on)

Not a huge difference but there is some between them all. The factory cast manifold looks enormous but the size of each port is extremely small. The weight is also laughably bad on the factory exhaust manifold. I havent put it on a scale but it must be 30+lbs. The Magnaflow and 4-2-1 header are 1/2 the weight by feel.

Choices on tires are down to Azenis RT615K+ or Nankang NS2R.

We have run the Azenis 615k+ in our first race. They did extremely well for the crap alignment we had.

Havent run the NS2R. Heard fantastic things about it being very forgiving. Dont see much on longevity in terms of reviews.

What would everyone choose?

EDITED: Nankang discontinued the 215 in 16" sizes. So now its RT615K, RT660, BFG Rival 1.5S...

Welp, got the deal of a lifetime on a 2006 Mustang GT. Wife will only allow one race car in the household and wont let me get rid of the Fiesta ST. Soooo....

Our beloved Elantra will be for sale here shortly.

Will come with NIB coating long tube header w/ v band clamps, NIB stock axles, NIB 90amp alternator, NIB master cylinder, freshly rebuilt LSD transmission, NIB replacement clutch/lightweight flywheel, NIB cooling system parts, NIB fuel pump and alot of NIB brake parts(lots and lots of rotors/pads). It will also come with 3 sets of 16x7 wheels. 2x sets need new tires while 1 set has a fresh set of 205/50R16 Accelera Sport 651's on them.

Car just had new wheel bearings installed prior to the 24 in 2023. I also replaced the cracked stock exhaust manifold with a new tubular Magnaflow direct fit catalyst. I do have a header but it needs to be modified to move the flange away from the oil pan.

I will be replacing the fuel pump, valve cover gasket, coil, plugs and wires before selling due to a valve cover gasket leak.

I would suggest the next owner delete the charcoal canister and vent the fuel tank. I have the t fittings to do so. Car didnt want to vent in the dead heat of August during the 24. Once it cooled off in the afternoon evening we didnt have any issues.

I have all the workshop manuals and electrical diagrams to go with it from Chilton/Hyundai. You also have me and Bob on the forum for any questions you ever have(Bob is the Guru on Korean fun).

Car has placed 2nd in Class B 2x at VIR North, 1st place in Class B at VIR South and recently just finished the 24hr race 2nd in B class.

Please PM me through the board or post up if you are interested. Would love to see this car go to a good home.

Maryland. Around 20 minutes outside of DC. If anyone is local and interested id even help deliver it up to about two hours away.

I responded to your email. I'm definitely interested. There are a few cars I'm currently looking at. Was planning to stay with the B13 Sentra platform for my champcar build but I really freaking love this little car and have been following this build from the beginning. I know you are hoping to get another car so you should sell the elantra as soon as you can please don't hold it for me. But, should you still have it in about a month I'm probably your huckleberry.

Already have the Mustang. Gathering parts now. Mustang is at my work office being garage kept. Elantra is still at my house and will stay garaged until sold. Will start this weekend replacing some of the little items like the valve cover gasket, plug well gaskets and fuel pump.

So far a few offers but nothing set in stone. Keep in touch and Ill work with you.

The Elantra is sold. Went off to a great group of new owners who have big plans for it in LeMons.

Last two pictures of the car before she left.

Driving away.

You may see more of it. I told them to keep posting about it in this thread once they get rolling.

Said id buy it back if they decide to sell it at any point. It felt like a large piece of me left when they pulled away. Now my garage has a HUGE hole in it for a car. Time to move the Mustang home and get to work. New thread incoming on that one.
