I have a Golden highlander that i want to make look a little bit better, I was thinking about painting the rims but I do not want to do them a average Black or silver. I was thinking White or Gold, Also thinking about painting my brake calipers any of the following colors : White, gold, Blue, Red - not sure though, any suggestions or input on how to go about doing so? I plan on doing it the cheapest way at home - but still look good.

napa and other parts stores have caliper painting kits that hold up pretty well
for the wheels plasti dip seems to be pretty popular
Plasti-dip (or maybe the new Eastwood elasti-wrap?) could do the rims in any of those colors - even gold apparently (who knew).
Calipers can be done with a caliper paint kit...I've heard G2's kits hold up well.
I've painted many wheels....just wet sand, and use any automotive paint and several coats of clear. Mine have all held up fine, even the blue rallycross wheels. Dupli-color makes a wheel paint, but only in "common" colors (silver, gunmetal, black, etc). Prep and a quality clearcoat are the keys.
Calipers, I'm not a fan of bright colors unless the car actually has nice large calipers (like the 4Runner, but not like the Highlander). Otherwise you're just drawing attention to your puny brakes....
In any case, I'm in for pics of the finished product
