Many times I've wanted a convertible but always held off. "Not enough space," or "Too easy to break into." I almost bought a supercharged NB, but got an E36 M3 instead. Later drove another NB in that awesome dark green, but bought another 240SX track car. Well finally, the stars aligned. Still have the Nissan, wife drives a Mazda3 hatch so there is haulin space aplenty, and we have a garage! Enter the S2000.
I've never been picky about color with a used car, but for this I really lusted after a white one with some red leather. I also preferred a later car (AP2) for the 2.2L engine with a bit more torque, various small tweaks over the earlier versions, and ability to easily tune with a Flashpro. This is only an option on 06+ cars which are also DBW and have traction control, but this turns off with a button push.
I tracked down the car I was looking for on eBay in VA and bought it sight unseen. Hey, it's a Honda....right? About 85k miles, several adult owners, garaged and well maintained. I flew from Milwaukee to Philly, then connected to a small regional airport, and then the owner picked me up in his 4 seat aircraft and flew me to his rape dungeon. Er, the car. I then drove home 15 hours alone the next day with a fun finale being Chicago traffic in a new car and exhausted.

Hi friend.

Blurriness of this pic seems appropriate.
Cheesy plate ensued. This is also a first for me. I like that it's coming from the wolf's mouth, and it's both a Honda VTEC meme and the shortened version of ventricular tachycardia, fitting since I work in the ER. Only the car nerds at work "get" it fully without explanation.

Coffee shop life.
I'm not great taking lots of pics. I cleaned up the interior really well and replaced the head unit with an aftermarket one with Bluetooth, this is my daily driver so it's nice to have music, podcasts, etc. it's integrated with the stock audio controls next to the steering wheel. I got a new shift boot. I changed the engine, diff, and trans oils with Amsoil products that were forum recommended.
Then I sprayed the bottom of the thing with Fluid Film which is thick oil in a can to protect against rust, threw some General Altimax Arctics on the stock wheels, and got to work fine all winter much to the shock of my colleagues driving various cars and SUVs with worn all seasons. I have no pics of this, I guess a filthy sports car on snow tires with such stiff sidewalls that driving feels like steering a sailboat isn't very inspiring to me.

It finally started to warm up, and with some miles under my belt in the car I've got a plan for it. I'll do a few track days and fun drives, but at the core a street car. I got a set of TireRack wheels and Bridgestone RE11As in 17x9, 255/40/17 non staggered flavor. I threw on a larger Whiteline front sway to keep the handling balance in check. A high flow cat and Hondata Flashpro are going on this week for a little more power, and more importantly lower VTEC engagement and fatter midrange. The clutch feels a little soft, and is stock AFAIK. I will probably get an AP1 flywheel which is lighter when I replace that. Otherwise, an OEM lip is on the list.
How are you liking Fluid Film as an underbody rust protectant? I've used it on the insides of fender lips but it never seemed to stick as well as I wanted.
It seemed to work well, a little surface rust on some bolt tips but nothing else when I was under there installing the sway bar. I have big salt crystals all over the under carriage.
I also did our mazda3, which looks okay but did two winters without it already in a salt state.
Ha thanks, update your thread! I've enjoyed.
I think next up will be brakes and clutch.
Not sure what's on there in terms of brakes, but they're pretty worn. I'm thinking AutoZone rotors and Stoptech street pads which seem decent for occasional track days.
Apparently the hot setup for the clutch is an OE disc with a beefier ACT HD pressure plate, so I'm planning to do that and probably an ACT Streetlite FW which is 11 lbs. Stock AP1 is 14, stock AP2 is 22(!). Needs moar reviness.
Fair warning: if you plan on doing a lot of autocrossing, that clutch setup will bump you out of STR. Lame, I know, just making you aware of it.
If no E36 M3s are given, then by all means!
I'm not a big auto cross fan, so no loss there.
Replaced mystery spark plugs with OE NGKs, seems to run a bit smoother.
Also replaced cabin air filter which I've never done on any of my cars. Holy E36 M3!! Piles of dirt, leaves, dead wasps...top up motoring is gonna be more pleasant me thinks.
White with red leather is my favorite S2000 combo. I is jelly. Good work with it so far!
Replaced pads and rotors all around, Autozone Duralast rotors and Stoptech Street pads. AZ genius first gave me Odyssey rotors which I realized when I got the first one out of the box.

I love this interior, here's a few decent shots of it. They also came with all black, tan, and all red which is...intense.

Weak update: I've done a few track days and just been driving this thing a lot. Lots of fun on track, very neutral with square tires and bigger front bar. I got the front lip on. I debated doing coilovers and some cool Volk wheels, but I think I'll leave it as is. Thinking about getting a P car or Z06 after this winter. I like to experience different things rather than have the same car forever.
