After some thought on this one, I just don't have the capacity to R&R the engine, or do a swap. Too many house and garage projects as it is.
That being said, thoughts on what a clean BRZ with blown engine should go for?

Where are you located? I see plenty of them on marketplace at $5k +/- a bit with engines in various states of brokitude.

If you wanted to cut somebody a deal in exchange for it becoming a rally car I might know a guy...
Just seeing this thread, but i've seen much worse oil in a car, pull the bearings and see what they look like. I have personally see some nasty bearings, polished the crank, put new bearings in, two quick oil changes and engine has been together for years....
bearings for reference

That would be great as I'm considering the engine as a loss at this point.
I am assuming by your statement that you did the bearings on an engine stand and just removing the oil pan?
IF (big if) that is the case, I'm not sure that's possible with a boxer engine.
Every time I think I want a BRZ because of good handling and the hatchback like my old CRX Si, I see a post like this reminding me that Subaru's engines are not reliable like in Honda's and Miata's.

FA20's aren't an "if" but a "when". They WILL blow up. They WILL die an early death. I have less faith in my banks savings acount than I do with an FA eating itself.

I think it's too early to say that they're undefusable timebombs, but there are hints that their longevity varies greatly...for every FA20 that spontaneously lunches itself, there's some Toyobaru-driving survivorship bias enthusiast bragging about how his FA20 survived years of track days on 0W20 with none of the usual engine survivability mods. This is the only one I've heard of to fail with the full suite of such mods.

Its no difference than the old EJ's popping head gaskets. It's just routine maintenance. THen the later 2.5's and their ringlands. Those things happen. Honda's C32/35 all need head gaskets at 150k. That engine is good for 500k miles, just replace head gaskets on time.
Too many Frisbees I've seen towed off track with popped engines to believe it's a fluke and more than enough to support the idea that its a thing that is going to happen.
