great car, being put to great use. but the front plate ruins it for me. :-(

I genuinely hate it. I'm still searching for another solution that doesn't force me to drill holes in the front of the car.
Regarding the front plate - I've seen a few cars in Europe that had a vinyl decal that was a "perfect" copy of the front plate. I'm unsure if it was gov't issue or not. I doubt such a thing would be an option - but it might be worth exploring.
Seems the Porsche guys in both Canada and the US have been active with this: http://rennlist.com/forums/993-forum/589691-front-license-plate-decal.html
On my 951 I bought a front plate holder that screwed into the tow eye, so I could easily remove it. Of course after I bought it I went out and saw that the nose had already been drilled :/
The plate holder that's there is one the screws into the tow eye. It has that horrible lopsided look about it. I'd love to do the printed plate thing but it has to pass the Mrs. Deuce test, and I don't think it would. I kept a plate off her Audi TT for almost two years before she had a pleasant talk with a Texas State Trooper. She doesn't really want to do that again.
I may or may not have not had a front plate on my cars for the last 8 years or so and may or may not have been pulled over for speeding and the lack of front plate was not mentioned. "The bracket is broken and I am waiting on the part".
If it was just me driving the car I'd have the front plate on a bracket in the back and wouldn't worry about it. However, my wife drives it too, and she won't drive things that will get her pulled over and if she won't drive it then that removes a big huge justification that I have to even own the car, which is that we can both drive it.
It's not a huge deal. The lopsided plate keeps air flowing to the important bits on track. If something better pops up, I'll grab it, but it's not keeping me up at night.
Perhaps a spring loaded bracket on the bottom lip that you can lock down when desired or let collapse when on the move?
Of course there's a more expensive version of something like that:

or

you know, for those James Bond fantasies we've all had.

So, don't go off the track.
Its a track day, there's no winner, so one shouldn't be driving at more than 7 or 8/10's and certainly not with something they can't afford to ball up.
You have relatives in Michigan. Register it up here where no plate is needed and pimp around the wrong side of the Mason Dixon line in blissful legality.
This was my solution to the front license plate thing. The holes you drill are underneath the front fascia, so you can't see them if you ever remove it. Plus, you can flip it underneath for car shows, track events, etc. Although it's for a "Mustang," I can assure you it is universal-fit.

What an awesome car, drive the kids to school, pick up groceries and then go to the track and beat the pants off of people.
Seriously awesome car. What kind of road trip/highway mileage does it get? I'm thinking one of these would be a great family hauler, but filling the gas tank would bankrupt me. I wouldn't mind an NA LSX with a measly 400rwp.
Highway I get as high as 19. Running around town it's more like 14. And it takes premium. . New lower gas prices are making me happy.
This came in the mail yesterday, Simpson R3. Not as good as a proper harness and a HANS, but an extra layer of safety I'm happy to have.

That's only 1 or 2 mpg worse than my LS3 pulling a similarly sized car. Seems like a good trade-off for an extra 150 horses.

Makes me very happy with the 25 I can easily get with the Charger, 29 if I really baby it. Though you do have a bit more power than my Hemi gets.
I think most modern cars have some programming where they really really try to save fuel under light load, especially with the cruise engaged. My truck is great for this. The engineers at GM seem to have not coded the LSA that way. It's always pouring gas into the motor at an astonishing rate.
Lean cruise on the truck / 4 cyl mode..
I never found the 4 cyl mode to help at all in my 2010 silverado though...
