I'm not sure. The stuff Toyota sells is $$$$. Internet lore indicated gear oil, 30 weight oil, and GM SC oil works.
I'm going with GM SC oil. The way my luck goes, the seals between the gears and rotors maybe boogered up. That would explain why it was empty.
So either the fuel pump took dump or there is crap in lines . . . No fuel
I'm five steps away from abandoning this as a Challenge budget build.
Took some time yesterday to re-jet the Weber and mount/wire the fuel pump and fans.
I plan to use an oil pressure (PS133) to run it. However 1/8 NPT does not fit 1/8 BSP, so I have to order an adapter. I currently have the fuel pump wired to ignition on and via manual switch for testing.
The car started fine, idlesd fine, and died once the choke opens . . . As long as the choke is closed, it will idle without an issue. Giving it a rev or two still produces tasty, black smoke . . . YAY! I ran out of daylight and good weather to test further.
Once some decent weather returns, I'll swap out the brake master cylinder and bleed the brakes . . .
So, whats going on with the Starion TBI unit? did that get backburnered? I know fuel management comes into the picture, which eats budget, but may make tuning easier.
Just curious, but still glad to see things happening with this build!
Undecided at this point.
The Starion TBI would work easier on the carb manifold than making an adapter for the 4ZE1 manifold. I want to wire it up with a MS1 and tune N/A first then FI later. BUT, the giant injectors on the Starion TBI gives me pause as I would have to go straight to FI.
If this full carb cleaning and blow out doesn't work, I may bite the bullet.
Picked up some Toyo R1Rs 195-50-15 for the 15x8s.
The carb blow out was meh. I cleaned out the junk, but I still can't tune it.
I can get to idle well, but loads up and dies when the throttle is open. Or it idles like crap and it doesn't load up as bad . . .
Once the choke opens, everything goes to E36 M3
