I'm a hardcore ICE guy but cool cars are cool cars regardless of powertrain and I think this is a cool car. I look forward to seeing where this goes and hope I never have to race against it-lol

It's going to be interesting if or when people find ways to get more horsepower out of these things. It's weird that they come with a certain power level and... that's it. You can make them lighter. You can improve the brakes. You can do anything to an EV that you can do to an ICE car... but you can't just double or triple its power output.

It's not like I have any ideas about how they can do it, either. Maybe when batteries get cheap/plentiful enough, people will start offering different packs with, maybe, higher discharge rates? Or... different motors that perhaps trade efficiency or NVH for high RPM performance (less back EMF)? Tesla carbon wraps the Plaid motors for 20,000 RPM operation--maybe somebody will start carbon wrapping rotors for other cars?

Lindenwood, do you have any details about that Lexan windshield? It looks very much like a stock windshield, which I did not expect. Did you make it? I always expect Lexan to be swirly and hard to see out of in the sun, but the weight savings seem well worth it.

So, interestingly, all the battery management system limitations are designed around the battery still lasting 100k + miles while theoretically running at peak performance the whole time. Similarly, torque onset from start is way gentler than theoretically possible--I've literally never heard of a snapped axle.

At some point the aftermarket will be able to override this. In the same way nobody runs 30 PSI on a stock bottom end expecting a lifetime of reliability, we will find ways to extract a lot more power and performance out of existing systems. We will find that we can get 20% or 30% or 50% more performance for 10k miles as we can for 100k miles, and enough track rats will be okay with this that the aftermarket (and/or Tesla) will allow it to happen!

the Lexan windshield is a stock replacement! It has no camera mounts like an OEM replacement would, and is untinted around the edges so you can see under all the trim pieces and such. However, I got plastic epoxy for the camera mounts which has held very well m, and will eventually just paint the border of the windshield to look more factory.

When clean, it feels generally like OEM. Rain is a bit louder, and it warbles and bows in above 100mph (materials inbound to reinforce it). But, it's been fine.

Thanks for the info. Wow, that's a lot of juice!

MPP is topnotch. I called them out of the blue to talk about options before I decided to jump into an EV, and they were very helpful chatting with me about my questions even though it was clear I wouldn't be purchasing anything soon.
