Hey Guys

looking to do a mid engine build at some point this year

either a K1 attack, or pick up a damaged elise (seems to be a few for fairly cheap with just clam damage, and I've had an exige before)

I'm not wanting to do the typical k series, or 2zz build.  I've had both, I'm wanting more of the v6 torque that the engines listed will provide,

as well I'm wanting something that will rev to 8000 (with modifications), or really close to it.

Out of the three engines listed which would you guys go with

I've ran into pitfalls with each, like lack of transmission choices, cam upgrades etc (E153 being expensive and hard to find now)

Also any other engine options I may not have thought of that are similar will be appreciated

thank you

VQ35 will have more transverse manual trans availability and way better aftermarket than any of those. But not as much power and torque to start out with.

2GR you can buy a flashed ECU to give it the "Lotus Evora tune" raising rev limit to 7200 and bumping it over 300hp. But like you said, E153 are becoming very rare.

2GR is very enjoyable, from what I uncovered trying to figure out how to get it not transverse was looking at what the Aussies were using. Looked like an S series bellhousing could get you most of the bolt holes on the GR and get to either a W or R series transmission. Supposedly there is crossover for the 1MZ and 2GR so some knowledge applies.

For Transverse mounting it should be easier.

Pulled from here I think(Source unknown but thank you):

For the more $$$ Ready made option to get to R series.. not so helpful for transverse 5spd but maybe:

Also the Tacoma being 2GR should open up junkyard options a bit on transmission swapability and a manual ECU

I've looked at vq35, and while they have plenty of aftermarket, I'm still not a fan, I've just had to many reliability issues in the past, even in just normal driving form while being well maintained.  I've dug more into the J series and so far im leaning towards that but still will welcome any options
