Almost done with the right side header. Cut the tacks and remove the collector make and weld in the ninja star in the center of the tube bundle then reposition the collector and finish weld it in.   Also used my son's expertise with HP "turnip" to reconfigure the PCM into an appropriate stand alone.

Called the thrash off as I ran into a fuel line fitting that I can't get in time. Honestly there are too many loose ends to tie up if it ran now I would still be pushing it to make it. pm

Well we made it to the challenge and completed the autocross and drag race portions of the event. Much thanks to my son Matt for talking me into not quitting and providing some much needed help with the getting it running stage of the build and tying up some of the loose ends. We both drove the car in the autocross and had a blast. The transmission was never quite right and had lost at least 2nd gear after lunch. But we had fun!

Cool.  When you mentioned a trailer yesterday I was like ok wtf.  Glad you got to run.  Now you have a full year to get ready to kick more behind.

Started cleaning up a few odds and ends on the car. Decided to pull all the door latches and safety wire them in the unlocked position.

Ok so my wife and I have picked up another flip house. We closed on it  about 3 weeks ago. Took a break the week around Christmas, but are back on it pretty steady now. Today O declared a mental health day and worked on the challenge car. My younger son helped me for a while too. Pulled the old windshield out, it was thin and flimsy.

I removed some unnecessary brackets from the top of the dash area and am taking advantage of the access afforded by the opening to tidy up the wiring while the windshield is still out. I also removed at least 10 of the little studs that BMW uses to hold lots of stuff on. They are more than happy to inflict pain and harm when working on the car, and could do even damage to the driver in a crash.

So I decided to run a tube from the cage A-pillar bar to the strut tower on each side to add support to the front suspension. The sheet metal in front of the towers had been removed by the previous owner.  This should add some strength back.

Celebrated the glorious first day of daylight saving time in the shop with the door open working on the Challenge car. Spent most of the time installing 18 rivet nuts to retain the windshield.

Stainless steel sink removed from house renovation. May be the next fuel tank. The old one was leaking where the left side was cut off by PO.
