Hello all, and welcome to the intro of our build!
We are building an Exomotive Exocet. Some of the things in store are: custom built supercharger setup, Tilton bottom mount pedals, fuel cell with additional protection, lowered seats, a custom front roll hoop, and just a general attention to detail!
We will make general posts here, but where we will really be getting into it is on our blog. We will be posting in depth analysis and detailed explanations on our methods and decisions, as well as giving tutorials on how we accomplished some of our tasks such as building the supercharger/alternator bracket and custom intercooler end tanks. Supercharger bracket post is coming very soon!
After much deliberation, the Honda k-series was chosen to be the power plant. Even with the supercharger setup it will weigh about the same as the Miata's iron block 4 cylinder. A v8 was appealing, but would have added a lot of weight to the front of the car. Check out some photos below, and here is a link to the blog. Starting point - Here is the donor, though we will end up not using much from it!
Starting point - Chassis. We got in in bare metal as we will be adding a front roll hoop and a few other things that require welding.
Supercharger/alternator Bracket - We made this bracket as none of the kits available for the k-series would fit in a rwd application.
Progress shot - We will be having a lot up updates over the next couple weeks to catch you guys up on the build!
Oh man, that frame is a work of art

Curious why - since you are adding a 'front roll hoop' - you didn't just go with the Race chassis ??? Not judging - just curious.
Also curious what chassis number Exomotive is up to by now.

Our design is going to be a little different. The front roll hoop will link with the rear hoop with bars towards the center, not on the outside. This will make for easier entry/exit (location is California so the car will see A LOT of use), and better aesthetics as well (this is a promo car after all). Though honestly I partially wish I would have just gone with the race.
Here is a little photoshop I made of the cage design a while back. There will also be bars that triangulate from the longitudinal top tubes to the front hoop. This isn't quite exactly what the hoop will look like, but it's the best I could do as with my limited photo editing skills I had to base it off the race chassis (bottom picture). It won't be quite as safe as the race chassis, but will be a hell of a lot safer than the sport!
Chassis is 220, delivered late Jan.
Lots of updates coming in the next few days, here is a preview of the intercooler end tanks I custom made out of sheet metal.

Great fabrication work on your supercharger and intercooler.
Should be a cool build.
Here is the link for the tutorial I wrote up for how the supercharger bracket was made!
