I figured I should start a build thread for my newest acquisition. It is a 74 Austin Mini 1000. I picked it up over the weekend from DrBoost. So far it needs a starter and some rust treatment. Here are some pictures from the trip home.

That was the plan, I want to at least wire-brush some of the surface rust and treat it so it doesn't get worse. We'll see if I can stop driving it long enough when I get it running.
Very cool car. I picked up an Austin America last weekend. Would much further have a mini. Enjoy the car I will be following your build closely.

+1. We'll be there, staying at a house on Rt 17 just north of town. Look for a house with 5-6 Minis/MINIs out front - that'll be us.

Never used 'em. I used these guys as the prices were the best I found: GB car parts
Also, Guido the clown is imported stuff from Mini Sport: Clown parts for a clown car
Mini Mania has the best online catalog of them all but their prices are at the top of the spectrum. I've always had good service from them though.
I'll definitely keep an eye on this. I love Minis. Have worked on a Mini and a Riley Elf. I would love to own one one day.
I'd actually love if they lifted the 25 year ban, because I would buy one of the last year models before they stopped producing them.

Congrats on the new car, Evan!!! Always loved mini's.
BTW, I'm on my phone right now, so kinda hard to tell... RHD?
Sweet man, looks good. Nice to see another mini owner on the board. Not exactly grassroots cars any more, but man are they cool. I wonder how many other mini owners are on the board. I think Keith Tanner' s got one, anybody else?
I've been mired in rust repair hell for longer than I care to admit, but starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I'm not looking forward to seeing how much rust I really have to repair, there are some small bubbling spots. Overall it looks very solid though so I'm going to drive it for awhile as-is.

More efficient for delivering pizza, but less efficient for picking-up hookers...
Way cool.
Much want.
Downside is, got me looking around on the internets, lead me to some trouble

Not likely. We've been staying at this house for the past 5 Vintage festivals - it's the only rental house on that section of the road. If all goes as planned, we'll have 3 classics (Red, BRG & orange), my g/f's R53, an R52 and an R56.
Ah yes... The Datsun group. A bunch of you stay at a motel just south of Pompous Ass Winery? We see them driving up and down the road all week. We like the house we get because we can walk into town. Friday evening, we'll sit ont he porch killing bottles of wine while watching the traffic crawl past...
Yep - 14, not 17... doh.
