Or I could secretly modify the Porsche while he isn't home and force him to run in MR.

Just remove a trim panel somewhere - weight reduction, and he's off to MR!
Don't feel bad about not being ready. The Neon isn't ready yet, either. Still need to fix the power steering, and put in a bigger radiator. It would probably be a good idea to order the parts sometime.
At the risk of thread-E36ing, I have a master and slave ordered for the RX-7.
Evan you can borrow anything and run it in MR as long as it's not Ballinger's.
I now have upper and lower ball joints and tie-rod ends ordered. Might as well replace it all now since the boots have been torn for a few years.
Got some coilover sleeves and 10" springs for the front. I may just put the back suspension back with the stock springs for now, it is much easier than the front to change later.

you're supposed to drive to Frostburg for WDCR events, where we have a very large and competitive MR field :)

At least put some damn bump stops on when you put the rear suspension back on.
In reply to mazdeuce:
I have some that are about the same length as the rear shock shaft. They may get trimmed a bit...
No, use them as is. In fact, put grease fittings in the shocks and pump them full of grease so the car sits up higher and... um... and the shocks will work better because they're greasier. Yes that's it.
(But seriously, 2014 Suspension #1 will rely less on spring rate and more on progressive bump stops that start at ride height. Hey, no education without lab work! The long travel suspension idea felt better but I think is slower so I'm going back to short travel)
The event this weekend was just cancelled due to rain Thur-Sat so I guess I have another month to get the car together.
Upper control arms are at the shop to have the old ball joints pressed out. The front suspension is apart waiting on the tie rod ends and lower ball joints.
I got the wiring harness (mostly) back in place. Then decided I might as well put the engine back in. Now I just have to route the wiring and lots of other small tasks. Still haven't heard back from Bilstein about my shocks.

It is, I can't wait to get it back on the road and stop driving my winter beater all the time.
Last I heard was 3ish weeks ago. They said they were going in the queue to be built and they would call back when they were finished. I may give them a call today or tomorrow to see what the status is.
Yeah I had an issue with Summit sending me the wrong ones for my truck and their customer service at bilstein was pretty helpful in pointing out the flaw and being communicative.
Called Bilstein and there are still 4 jobs in front of mine. They wouldn't give me any info on how long that would take.
Hooked up some wiring and changed the oil today. My Volvo is puking about a gallon of coolant every two days so I want to get the Miata done as soon as possible.
EvanB wrote: I plan to, that's a little different than driving 20 minutes to local events though.
lol....I don't think in the history of WDCR that anyone has ever been that close to any of our events. I think the "close guys" right now are about 2 hours from our venue. The "far guys" are 4-5 hours...
Event #2 is April 13th
You'll need to log in to post.
