Project update:
I spent a little time with the various motors over the weekend, and I'm pleased to report that with the various spare parts and new OEM stuff that came with the car, it should be up and running without much more to purchase.
I should be doing a bench refresh of the best candidate motor here in the next few weeks, and then I'll be spending a little quality time on the wiring and dash.
Cool stuff. If you can source a cheap Megasquirt you can avoid the AFPR thing which IME doesn't really work well.

I'm keeping my eyes open for a cheap megasquirt, no luck yet.
Been stupid busy at the office, but hoping to get a little time over the weekend.

Looks like fun! Yet another thread that makes me wish I wasn't too tall to easily fit in a Miata. Are those Escort GT wheels on the car in that pic?
Nothing a Corbeau/Sparco or Kirkey race seat can't fix;I'm in that height realm too. I've competed in autocrosses with a couple of guys taller than me that own Miatas.

Well, it was raining and cold here today, so I didn't get as much done as I would have liked, but I did get the interior mostly gutted and ready for the next steps
I also worked on cataloging all of the spare parts, and I'll be starting a sale thread in the next few weeks to recoup some of the costs.
I was talking with a friend who's helping with the car today, and I think we've figured out a theme.
The car as it sits now (I do plan to loose the style bar):
Looks like I've got to fly out in the morning for work, so the car will be on the back burner for a little while.

Well, the theme of the build has been decided upon, and the 'paint' has arrived.
Since I'm a cigar smoker, and my 2 friends who have said they'll help (although only one has shown up thus far) are also cigar smokers, it's going to be the CigCar. Now we've just got to figure out where to mount the humidor.

One of these days, the extra work at the office will slow, and I'll have some more time to work more on this.
I did manage to get one of the spare motors torn into over the weekend, and it looks like it'll just need some gaskets, still had the cross hatching on the bores, and everything looked very good. I'll probably start building that one as the turbo motor.

It looks like I might have a garage in the next few months, so I'm pretty excited about that.
That being said, I've been more focussed on buying the house than working on the car.
Apparently as a responsible adult, there are these priority things that you have to work with. Hopefully the car can be one of them before too long.

Well, Things are still moving slowly, but I've at least made a little progress:
I knew the car had an LSD, but I wasn't sure what type, since I hadn't been under it, so I lifted it, and it's already had a torsen swap. Thanks again PO!
I made an almost even swap on the bandaids that came with the turbo kit for a MS1 and partial harness, so I'll be able to run more boost.
I've started recouping costs from the spares.
Where the budget stands now:
Car purchase $1500
Turbo kit $398.78 (minus bandaids, plus megasquirt +$35)
"Paint" $100.40
Misc bits $55.73
Total in: $2089.91
Spare Parts Recoup:
Wheels $120
Engine $220
Total Recoup $340
Still available for recoup $668
Current running net: $1749.91
Running net - available recoup: 1081.91
Total effectively left in budget for remaining needs: $933.09

Life has kept me busy, but things are starting to look up.
Last week we closed on our house. It has a garage where I can work on the project, and enough room that I can get a lot of my tools and crap out of storage to work on the car as well.
I finished epoxy sealing the Garage floor this morning, so in about a week, I'll move the miata in, and start building a little faster.
