I have a bunch of 914s and I had set one aside to make a Rallycross car. I am starting my 4th season of rallycrossing with both Tarheel Sports Car Club and DC SCCA. I get to run about 4 times a season. The car I am running now is the best deal I have ever had on playing in the car world. I started the Frugal Motorsport mentality based on this car. Its a 1999 ZX2, purchased for $300 and I will post its story soon.
The 914 I have started on, I have dragged around for a while and it really should have been junked. I have a soft spot in my heart for Porsches and anyway of keeping one going is my philanthropic endeavor.
"Rusty" not even close to an original name, but for sake of moving this along is both a name and description in one. I believe Rusty is a 72 1.7.
Plans as of now... After realizing how far gone this car is we call it Rusty 1.0 because I know a 2.0 will soon follow to actually do what I really want.
This one will stay a 1.7 or 1.8, be partially gutted and have some roll cage reinforcement added courtesy of Jamie and River City Speed.
and used that as an excuse to take a day off and work on Rusty. He was full of leaves and limbs, so I spent much of the time shop vac in hand.
