Brakes bleed, and as a added bonus, I did a single can of Sea Foam treatment. 1/2 through the manifold with the engine running, and the other half will makes it's way through the fuel system.

Initial test of the brake system was to get gas. And it felt good to drive the car in the daylight finally. After the Sea Foam treatment, I was able to hit the bypass and do a few 15-70mph burst thanks to little/no traffic. Look like a freight train hitting Vtec going down the road thanks to the sea foam.

With the brakes on, I get to move along to the next two projects. Lower engine mounts, and the rear subframe brace.

Oh and I almost forgot, how did it feel? Awesome. Solid stiff pedal. Predictable pedal rebound/compression. Stops much better than before, and have yet to feel the ABS try and kick in.

I was trying keep the GSR in roadworthy condition, but due to a "test" I pretty much doomed it to sit until next spring. Totally worth it though.

So anyhow, I finally decided to turn some more wrenches tonight, and tackled one of the bad motor mounts today. Had a little hang up, but nothing that couldn't be dealt with. New VS Old:

Still need to do the passenger side lower mount, but now my metal/metal sound when shifting in the lower gears is gone. (mount bolt was hitting bracket)

After it was all mounted up I figured it'd be a good time for a high impact test. So I took it up the street to the park as I was driving around the community and figured time to give it a launch. Similar to a auto-x start or drag strip start. Took it up to about 3K, slide off the clutch and pedal to floor. No real wheel hop, and a pretty good smell of the burnt rubber in the air. Motor mount did it's job and no metal clunking. After the 2nd launch I had a new clunking/slapping sound. The sound of tread slapping the inner fender and suspension.

Of course it had to happen to one of the better tires, but oh well. They are all mostly dry rotted, mismatched, and the one is a completely different size. I was able to drive the car to work a few times, and it is a fun little car to drive. And I was hoping to take it to the Fall Meet of Import Alliance. But this last little thing has just made me want to leave it tucked away in the garage until next spring. So lets hope this doesn't turn into the same type of project that tends to hit my friends and it's doomed for insanely slow progress and kept out of daylight for years.

Use this as an excuse to buy some halfway decent shoes for it. Sounds like you put the beat-down on some aged-out rubber and it came apart on you. Not exactly the car's fault.

I know it's not my money we're talking about here, but just consider them words of encouragement.

I am likely going to pick up a set of Federal SS595's. I ran the other version on my old FC (595SS) and they were amazing. Not to mention I've talked a few friends into running them and they lasted a few years even with heavy camber. So that's already in the plans. But I also want to pick up a set of OEM wheels or Drag DR20's.

keep in mind, that if you're planning to autoX with them with a SCCA region in a street tire class they aren't legal … street tire classes require 200 TW rating

For realz. I'm poverty status most of the time and I can find a tire somewhere. :D (I do understand that trying to buy a matching set and maybe wheels at the same time is a little different of a budget quandary, though...)

Well I still need to do some legal work on the car (I.E. Tittle transfer, taxes, and registration). I also have to do the year KY revenue collection on my 2014 Scion tC. ($250) And then there is building the shed so I can free up some more garage space (so far I've got the frame up, just need to acquire some plywood to make the roof/walls/doors). So I've got a few other money consuming projects/liabilities for the time.

Not to mention the normal stuff in life like my mortgage, car payment, insurance, food, bills, ect. And since I don't have a significant other and live alone, most of my paycheck goes towards living. The car isn't going to be winter friendly anyhow being as it has pretty much zero interior, and holes in multiple body panels from removed spoiler, wiper, antenna, and a little Honda rot.

But yes, I know the car will not fit "street" classes in auto-x on those tires. I don't really care. A lot of people here build cars for racing/auto-x or restoring. Me? I just want a car I can enjoy. I don't want to be restricted by a rule book. Consider it more of a street legal toge car.

Oh and I also forgot to mention, the car still needs an alignment, and suspension overhaul. Well, pretty much every bushing on the car has over 250K miles on it, and they are all mostly trashed by now.

See, here is your problem, stop living and start blowing more money on cars. You have no wife to talk sense to you, what are you waiting for?

HAHA! Right? See I grew up poor. And as of the last few years, I've finally been able to really do the things in life I've always hoped I could. Eventually I'll stop being responsible. But for the time being, I'll enjoy a taste of everything from home projects to car projects, to just blowing money at the casino.

Been a bit since I've update, and well, there is a good reason why.

After I parked it for "winter" (which I've yet to see) I started to yank the motor/trans out. Not the easiest thing to do with out a lift, and a jack that goes very high. It took a scissor jack, and my pump jack + a few 2x4's to get the extra height and I was finally able to get the motor out from the bottom.

Once the motor was pulled, I listed it on a local facebook group to fund the J35 swap. Well, after many people "looking for a b series motor" but not wanting to pay B series prices (Honda people tend to be cheap), I received an offer right before I was going to tare the motor down and find the source of the oil burn. Guy mainly wanted the motor, suspension and brakes off my GSR and offered to trade a barely running 91 Accord Wagon + cash.

Now here's the problem. I had no attachment to the GSR and have a very soft spot in my heart for wagons. I don't know why, but I love them. In the past, I owned a 1.8T Passat wagon, and loved it, minus all the headaches and repairs it needed. So, yeah, I pulled the trigger on the trade and the extra $500 to go ahead and fund the first stage of suspension upgrades. And as a bonus, I he threw in a spare F22A1. Now this motor is a base motor, good for about 120hp/tq. The EX Wagon (in which I have now) came with a A6 version, that was much higher on tq/hp thanks to a better cam, tune, intake and exhaust manifolds. So now I have a A1 motor sitting in my tiny one car garage taking up space. But it defiantly sweeten the deal.

It runs/drives/shifts, but it's an auto. That's really the only downside to the car in general other than some rear 1/4 rust on the wheel arches. But when I say it runs, I mean, I can drive it for about 5 minutes, and then the car starts running like total crap thanks to a bad o2 sensor and blown/leaking head gasket.

However, I've devised a plan to fix these issues. Of course, it's going to involve me dropping about 2K+ on parts/labor at my friends shop but it's something that I know the head mechanic is very capable of doing, and has tons of resources to pool together to accomplish it in a reasonable about of time. But what's the plan? H22/23 swap and probably a manual trans swap to boot. I mean, I'm not trying to build a time attack or auto cross monster here. Just something fun to drive to work and back, keep the miles off my tC, and maybe surprise a few unsuspecting people here and there.

Of course, I must say, I know a decent amount about Honda's, but am by far a guru. I know enough to get by I suppose. Also, I really don't see my self as a "Honda Guy". I've always been more fond of 80s/90's Toyota/Nissan as well as 60s/70's Japan cars. But for some reason, I've now owned 2 Honda's in the last 6 months. Shoot me!

Also, here is a shot of the cruiser. It's lowered on TruHart Street Plus coilovers. It's pretty much as low as it'll go. I've got a lot of work ahead of me getting the suspension sorted out, but one of the more expensive items being the coil overs, I figured I'd knock them out first. Things I plan:

H swap motor 5spd swap trans Rear disc brakes adjustable arms for rear adjustable ball joints front wheels/tires

And hopefully miles of easy cruising.
