I am sorry to hear that it has been mechanically troublesome; hope it doesn't get worse. Feels bad because I 100% trusted the work done on the clutch & rear main figuring it must be a small adjustment issue or something...

Precisely highlights why my physical and mental capacities no longer include car maintenance! Good luck, you got my number for anything, anytime...

One post right here:

We are having a blast. Nothing is happening outside of the expectations of buying a very complicated 35 year old Japanese  sports car sight unseen and driving it a thousand miles home.

You told us about all of your recent concerns with the car, there have not been any fundamental surprises.

Ill post more in a bit, but for now I just wanted you to know we are having a great time!

I think this means we are closer to Florida:

Good news is that we aren't as roached... yet.

Still plenty of oil on the dipstick and vigorous pumping of the clutch will allow a forceful engagement of 1st gear. No lurching no horrible sounds.... yet.

It'll be fine.

At least you are not having to start it in first yet.

Quick thought:

Remember the secondary clutch bleed that I told you the mechanic removed due to it being messed up? Maybe the fitting used to plug that up is loose and letting air in the clutch line? Kinda hard to see next to / below the battery by the firewall, but the area has been messed with a bit and you might be able to fit a hand down there to feel for dampness? Idk

Keep moving south and we will keep up the positive thoughts!

SOUTH Carolina!

Clutch situation seems to have stabilized.

No better no worse, and that's great!

The oil smell is decreasing and at this stop I didn't see any active drips. The oil level is still slightly above full, which leads me to believe that it may have been slightly overfilled. The dipstick is way down in a pocket of tubes wires and hoses. It would be very easy to not get it fully seated and therefore overfill it when topping off.

In town driving might not make a difference where as hours of driving at speed exerts a little more pressure on a seal somewhere?

Onward!

This is the slave cylinder style right? I would remove it from the trans but leave the hydraulics connected, then point the plunger to the ground and just work it by hand a lot. I've had to bleed clutches this way on a couple different cars before.

Port Wentworth Ga.

Getting 22 mpg not too bad....

No status changes, almost no oil leak, clutch drags slightly, Just enough to drop the idle speed about 50rpm and keep the synchronizers confused.

Shifting at speed is of course easier....

Now on to people food!

Seeing your progress with the vett, excited to see how this turns out, complete opposite worlds of operation but super cool vehicles. I'd love to have either. Get that thing out to radwood.
