For no more street use than it'll see, just wire the lockup converter to a toggle switch. IIRC there are 2 wires, if you use one it'll stay locked up 100% of the time while the switch is on, but with the other wire it'll disengage in 1st gear.

I had my 88 pickup wired that way, as there's sensor in the trans that's a common failure point & prevents it from locking up, and it worked fine for years. I plan on wiring the Vette that way too, but haven't bothered with it since I doubt I'll have it on the highway for extended periods anytime soon.

So you'll need to do some wiring for that so the lock up convertor will work. And if you want a speedo you'll need to take care of that also. Both are well documented on the web. You'll also probably need to wire up a circuit for radiator cooling fan and the fuel pump.

In your case, since I've removed the late 80's GM computers and related wiring the time consuming way of identifying each from it's original use and working back to the computer (when it's getting tossed). I'd just whack off the whole big harness from the computer where it comes out of the cowl to the engine compartment. It looks scary because it's a big thick harness with a lot of wires. Then remove all those wires from engine compartment. Be careful working with the ground terminal near the battery with a bunch of grounds attached as you'll probably want to reuse that at some point and it's old plastic. There's typically some combined grounds near the firewall that almost look like someone DIYed a bunch of wires and wrapped them with tape, they're stock.

Once you've got the engine compartment cleaned out you can move inside the car. Scrape off the glob of sealant around the cowl grommet and shove the clipped off harness through then you can start removing the wires from items you're getting rid of working from the item back to the ECM and BCM. The door locks, power windows, power mirrors, etc. are connected to the BCM through relays. When done you'll have a couple power wires coming from the fuse box to the ECM/BCM and a couple grounds. Remove those and you can set the ECM/BCM aside.

You'll still have some items you may want to remove like interior lights etc. but at this point it'll be simple to remove them back to the light switch or fuse box.

Tell the person that wants the FI harness to come remove it themselves if they want it so they're familiar with it. Unplug it from the ECM instead of cutting the harness off at the cowl. It'll take a lot longer to remove it being careful than it is to just keep cutting off wires, clips etc.
