I bought this 1991 MR2 about two years ago. I have kept stock for about a year, then the itch started to grow and I had to start doing things to it. This is my journey so far. I have been making videos of the journey.
The first thing I did was install a header and make my own center exit tip.

Then I wanted to help it breath a bit better. There are not a lot of options for this car so I modified the stock air box.
Modifications to air box.
I got brave and decided to install a set of performance cams. Things did not go so well at first.
Should this guy be able to hold a wrench?
Not having spent enough money on my car yet it was time to tackle the suspension and brakes.
Rear brakes and coilovers.
Front brakes and coilovers.
This brings my journey up to date. I had a power steering light come the dash and so decided to take it in myself.
Is my trunk supposed to be smoking?
Yikes! I watched in horror as you spliced the power steering wires. Looks like everything survived.
The relay you bypassed is a necessary safety item. Without the relay, a faulty controller can provide full uninterpretable current to the steering motor. They built the electric power steering systems with a bunch of sensors to detect possible failures... at the slightest hint of a failure the relay opens and cuts power.
Anyway, cool videos!
In reply to Doc Brown:
I will be sourcing a relay for it. Everything seems to be working ok now.
I am learning as I go.
That's a scary mistake to make. Glad it didn't end worse than it did.
sometimes we know just enough to be dangerous
Tried my hand at Plastidip for the first time. It went ok, I followed the YouTube videos from dip your car.
Sweet dipping action.
I'm surprised how well that peels off the tire. What kind of prep did you do?
Cleaning and prepping wheels is the worst part of any paintjob for me.
I did no prep to the rubber. I cleaned and dried the rim. Then put about five light coats of black, then about the same for the gold. I made sure to spray the dip on to the rubber so it would peel of well. This was my first time doing this, so I was a bit surprised as well at how easy it was to peel off.
I wonder how long it will hold up. I wanted to paint some wheels gold for the Tidewater rally out to BC this summer but I'm not sure if it's going to actually be cheaper than Duplicolor gold wheel paint - Plastidip is super expensive here!
I ordered mine from Dipit.ca. I found it to be reasonable.
So I have been thinking that I needed to do something at the back of my MR2. I wanted to make a diffuser type rear valance. This is the start of the planing stage.
Youtuby fun.
Did some work on my brakes
Better stopping
Did some maintenance this week. A new fuel filter for my Sw20 MR2.
Changing the fuel filter. So much gas.
It's been awhile but we got a new toy in my shop!
Now just need to learn how to make stuff with it.
Big green toys!
What the hell dude?! You have an SW20 and access to a lathe?
That's just not fair! lol
Did a bit of painting. I am hoping these new wheels will be lighter
New supra wheels
I was able to have a new to me exhaust put on this week.
Also developed a odd clunking sound in the rear.

I am planning on slapping a turbo on my engine. So I thought it would be fun to
take it to a dyno and see how much power I have now, then I can compare later.
