So I have started to make a little more progress on the My 1998 Pontiac Firebird that I picked up for $800. Was originally a v6 car with a 5-speed. My original plan was to go 6.0L iron block with a t-56 6-speed. Well that changed when I sold my (Bearded)Jag and got my Passat. Since it is a 5-speed, I now have been able to scratch that itch for a manual trans. So no it does not bother me to go the route I'm going now. As of yesterday I was able to pick up this. A complete 5.3 long-block with 4l60 trans. Got them for one helluva steal. Along with these goodies from a friend of mine for free. He was going to scrap them bc no one would buy them and knew I was getting ready to move forward with my car and gave them to me. Pacesetter coated headers an TSP true duals. Need some work on them, but sounded great when they were on a car. Soon I will be buying some ls1(6) heads and some form of cam. But I have a little ways to go, but could be possible to be challenge eligible. I will try to update periodically when I get can. It needs to be put on an engine stand and cleaned before anything else though.

A little info on the engine and trans. They came out of a 2002(3?) Suburban. Unkown mileage but it was driven in to the salvage yard. The only reason for scrapping was becuase the trasnmission started to slip. It was rebuilt at some point becasue it was really clean in the bell housing and front pump looked new. Also upon inspection, one of the torque converter bolts were broken in the converter. But I plan on getting a bigger stall for it anyways so no big deal on that. I just want to know what that would feel/sound like and what it could cause. But the engine wsa said not to have a single problem. It didnt smoke, tick, knock, etc. drove fine. Going to be doing inspection on it in the near future and replace all the gaskets.
