Wow, that is quite eventful. I hope recoveries go well both for your grandfather and for when you get the hernias repaired!

8 month old is a full time job in itself.  Hope everything goes well.  Remember he'll be talking soon so no mentioning how much you spent on cars/parts.

Hang in there. I haven't gotten to work on my car stuff since about halloween between my toddler and newborn. We all muck through as we can. I start back to work next week (parental leave) and will be back to paying my mother in law to live with us for childcare. Even then, wife and I both work from home and will be juggling the newborn back and forth while grandma minds the toddler. Most everyone I know is making impossible choices and mucking along any way they can to make it work.

Thanks guys,

On the way home from the hernia surgery hopefully recovery goes smooth and my wife doesn't get too annoyed with my inability to lift.

What a mess... the never going to get finished project.

Glad to see surfshibbys RX7 on the cover. At least someone knows how to finish an RX7 project.

This whole recovery process is annoying. After the first week I've been feeling much better after a week. Sticking with the restrictions of not lifting has been difficult with having a 20lb little boy who wants picked up.

Gotta take recovery a day at a time. It never goes quickly enough and always feels like forever and you get stuck thinking "is this the new normal?". You have to think in months when you want to think in days. Kids make it even harder.

Keep your chin up!

My projects are pretty much stalled. I'm lucky if I steal an hour every other week right now between work, the kids, talking my wife out of murdering her mother (living with us for the most part temporarily so we can work), and stretching and exercise so my back doesn't give out again.

It'll get there. If it's worth doing, it's worth the smaller bites way of getting it done.

Recovering from any injury is a process. A slow one that is hard to handle. I already struggle with the fact that I can't do the things I could when I was 25.

I definitely need a learn me on replacement windows for my house. I have 1980s single pane windows in my home. Even on a semi warm day 70, my house will heat up to 70-80 depending on the room. Even on "cold" 45 sunny days the temperature will rise 3-5 above the thermostat. I recently had quotes to replace the 12 windows on the back side of my house that gets all the sun, one was for 13k and the other 22k. After getting the quotes I realized I wasn't made of money and questioned the large variance in price/perceived quality.

spot on

Still back and forth on paying to have the RX7 finished. May just buy a different gun car and keep the RX7 for challenge potential if I ever find time again.

Well, ummm, see, I've like, well, got an extra x1/9.

You'd have to get it, but I'm thinking of selling one, possibly even the running and driving one, maybe.

G35 I'm currently winning on this one.

I don't have a business license to bid in Maryland.

Robbie your house is "on the way" to Florida right?

I'll finish the RX7 tomorrow. I'm thinking of letting some people go at work before the end of my season and switching to the 777 schedule, 7am-7pm 7 days a week.

When I worked for Coca-Cola days were 6am - 6pm. My boss uses to say we only worked half days and that we were welcome to do whatever we wanted with the other half of the day!

Lost the G35, no surprise, can't win at anything these days.

Then daycare shut down for another 2 weeks. Yay!!! Seemed pretty convenient to get "Covid" over Labor Day.

The daycare struggle is real. We finished with ours last spring and now both are in public school. Plus, as soon as you're done paying for daycare you get to use up all the extra money you'll then have by saving for college. Joy.

However, the public school was 'remote' many more days last year than the daycare was...

At least I was able to add a new driver for the next two weeks at work so I've got that going for me.

Found my new car, I hope it passes tech.

In reality I keep losing on buying stuff. Had a mustang lined up but the sellers son wanted more money. Today won my auction on Copart but then lost because the seller wanted to counter offer my high bid.

Get it itemized. $500 Miata, $2000 hardtop.

(Just make sure to ask for that after you pay.)

Parking lot restore

Edit: I really don't like the allowance of itemizing a car purchase. The guy is obviously not selling the one without the other.

This weeks losing action. Soon I'm actually going to get a challenge car.

Sunday, local deal on a 96 mustang gt, "I would have sold it to you to avoid all this hassel but its my sons car and he wanted at least $2200."

Monday won a 08 Miata with some side damage on copart for $950. It was "on approval" The counter bid was $2250, I reoffered $950 and they cancled my bid.

Tuesday made another 1800 offer on a Mustang GT listed for 2500. Realized it was the guy who wrote my mortgage. He must have remembered me because he responded, "how about $2700."

Wednesday bid "$1250" on an XJR with minor damage. Lost at $1200 because I didn't realize my bid limit was $1150.  Later in the day I tried to line up seeing a 08 Mini Cooper S that needed a power steering pump, the guy who got off work earlier than me bought it.

Thursday bid $875 on a 200k mile 09 Altima 3.5 manual trans, clean title car. Lost at $900.

Friday bid on a 03 CLK Amg, lost by a little but it was going to need some front end parts so not a big loss.

Don't get discouraged by the cars you lost for $25. That's just one bid increment. Had you bid more, the other guy may have gone up by a whole lot more.

You're doing it right, set your personal limit and see if it flies
